I wish there was a rating of "good" between "average" and "very good", because that is what this was. We went here because they have usual cuts of meat. At lunch time, it isn't busy and you can enjoy the rather roomy and Spartan front room. My husband to a ribeye steak w/fries, and yes it was a bit salty,... More

Bad front of house staff, we weren't even sure if he worked there by his blank expression when we arrived. The restaurant is very dark and noisy (to the point where we couldn't hear each other across the table) and seats uncomfortable, food was average, but sides should have been included in the price. They were huge portions too which... More

I went to this restaurant with a group of 6 people. The lady serving us had a bad attitude and threw her eyes up to heaven when asked to explain the cuts of steak. (She didn't explain and simply said "well what would you normally eat - and then said pick this cut so") The food was nice (nothing magnificent)... More

One of the most unusual menus in the city with some very very interesting stuff to try not your usual cup of tea but who wants that Prices are extremely competitive and I do like the portion sizes very generous

Took my friend here for a birthday treat and he was pretty impressed! It's nice to see some different cuts of meat on the menu. I got the rump and he got a rib-eye. Both very enjoyable. Everyone needs to eat their million dollar fries! Also the sauces are amazing. My favourites were the tarragon red wine garlic butter and... More

I have been here twice and was disappointed both times. I am like to eat my steak blue, and not recognising many of the cuts - I asked the waiter for advice about what to order. Well you would swear I had asked him to recite a decade of the rosary. I got a dirty look and a hum haw... More

I am a bit surprised that Bear is not ranked higher. If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would. We loved the atmosphere and service was great. While a bit pricey, the food was excellent. We had the Rump Steak, Loin Lamb, Cauliflower with Cheese, Green Salad, plus the Tarragon Red Wine Butter. We each enjoyed 2 drinks (2... More

We were recommended to try this restaurant by our hotel receptionist. We were not disappointed - unusual cuts of meat which we didn't recognise but with the help of the very knowledgable waitress we had an excellent meal, well presented and VERY tasty. Would definitely recommend a visit- you won't be disappointed
