Cheap and cheerful, good for groups

I visited bear with six friends on a Saturday evening. I'd heard a lot about the food and was looking forward to it. I was a little disappointed with the food, but will return in the future for the atmosphere and the buzz of the place. We shared two platters of beef and a single portion of chicken... read more

We went to Bear for brunch and it did not disappoint. From the moment we stepped in, we enjoyed the relaxed music, vibe and low lighting. We walked in without a reservation and was seated quickly, unlike lots of other restaurants that are happy to keep you waiting. The diners were relaxed and trendy, unlike many other places which are... More

If you are into plenty of steak, this is worth a visit. You'll find the less popular cuts of cow being served up here. If you are hungry and there more than one of you, have the bavette steak for 2 - you rarely see it served in Ireland - you will not be hungry. The house wine is fine,... More

I came here on my birthday. I really wanted a steak and when I searched for a good steakhouse on the net, one list put Bear at number 6 (out of 10) and it was fairly cheap. It also had a good name, so I was pretty happy to go. However. The name is where the delight ended. First -... More

This place seems a bit confused to me. It looks like a bar, but the chefs seem to want to serve hipster/ NY Williamsburg food - but don't quite get there. It's okay, but food service was poor and we left feeling a bit unclear about what the place wants to be. Portion sizes are pretty good though, so one... More

My husband picked this restaurant for our last dinner in Ireland because he liked what he saw on Anthony Bourdain's show. My sister, her boyfriend, my husband and I all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our server was amazing! It was quite busy, but she was never flustered. She was knowledgable, clever, and delightful. The food matched the service. We went big!... More

Ate here last week for a work team casual lunch and it didn't disappoint. Excellent value and the food was so good! The baked sweet potato was unreal and the roast veggies as a side were really really yummy! Nice little touches like they have their own homemade sauces on the table so it's a step up from very casual... More
