Description: The Oval Bar is an authentic Irish Pub situated idyllically in the heart of Dublin City on Middle Abbey Street. Housed within a beautiful Victorian building with most of its period features still intact, The Oval is the perfect place to escape from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city outside and provides a haven of welcome and warmth for local office workers on lunch, busy shoppers looking to recharge their batteries, visiting tourists looking for the 'Craic' and music, cinema and theatre goers looking for a bite to eat and a drink before or after their show. Once our patrons step inside our doors they experience the relaxed and convivial nature of our charming pub, our Staff are welcoming and friendly and will ensure that everyone's stay is a pleasant one. With over 3 floors of seating and a large function area with its own private bar facilities available to rent we can accommodate any size group. We also have an outdoor seating area for those lazy Dublin summer evenings. Our kitchen serves a full menu daily with Traditional Irish Stew being one of our specialities! The Oval has long been renowned as an exceptional place to watch 'the match', we show all the major sporting events on our wide screen LCD TVs and has also a great atmosphere for pre or post match celebrations for patrons going to and from Croke Park. The Oval - home of the best Pint of Guinness in Dublin!

We first spotted the Oval from the LUAS heading past O'Connell Street and went for a quick pint because of the 1916 connection. The staff seemed friendly, and the menu looked to have some good traditional fare (unlike most of the more modern restaurants we found ourselves in), so we returned the next day for dinner. The Irish stew was... More

My boyfriend and I stopped in there for a drink in the afternoon. Ours glasses were filthy, the bar counter was sticky, the draught taps were dirty, the floor was sticky and the grumpy red haired lady behind the bar barely smiled.

A buzzing pub on a Sunday, the eve of the GAA semi-final. Great food (Irish Stew) and beer served promptly. The service was relaxed and the staff excellent. Great atmosphere. If you are looking for a pint and an eat...you could do a lot lot worse. Recommended.

Very nice staff, fine kitchen - my first real irish stew - the wine list could be a bit larger, but what else: fresh guiness :)

We love visiting here especially my husband.Handy for when you have finished shopping and need a beer and a sit down. They have an outdoor seating area which is great for people watching. All the bar staff are efficient and friendly but I do like the dry humour of the chap with the moustache.

The food was poor, though it is reasonably priced compare to other places. Chef ran out the door since 8.30. No desserts available. Place was pretty dead for a summers night. After I complained the food was poor, the staff were pretty nice about it and did not charge for it. Shame the food was a let down, granted it's... More

This is one of the most icon of Dublin bars. It was part and parcel of the journalist's hangout. It is a quant and nice pub with a long history. It must be visited. As zou are there look and ask about it's history. Many a most famous Irish journalist hung out here waiting to be called for a story... More

Before we were married, my husband took me here because I had never been to Ireland before and I wanted to have a guinness in a proper pub before I went home. It was the first week we had ever spent together so with all the nerves, I had built up quite an appetite. We stopped at the Oval bar... More

Quaint bar with very pleasant service. Set out over three small floors it is a bit of a pain to have to go to the ground floor to reorder. I'll be back though
