Description: The Oval Bar is an authentic Irish Pub situated idyllically in the heart of Dublin City on Middle Abbey Street. Housed within a beautiful Victorian building with most of its period features still intact, The Oval is the perfect place to escape from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city outside and provides a haven of welcome and warmth for local office workers on lunch, busy shoppers looking to recharge their batteries, visiting tourists looking for the 'Craic' and music, cinema and theatre goers looking for a bite to eat and a drink before or after their show. Once our patrons step inside our doors they experience the relaxed and convivial nature of our charming pub, our Staff are welcoming and friendly and will ensure that everyone's stay is a pleasant one. With over 3 floors of seating and a large function area with its own private bar facilities available to rent we can accommodate any size group. We also have an outdoor seating area for those lazy Dublin summer evenings. Our kitchen serves a full menu daily with Traditional Irish Stew being one of our specialities! The Oval has long been renowned as an exceptional place to watch 'the match', we show all the major sporting events on our wide screen LCD TVs and has also a great atmosphere for pre or post match celebrations for patrons going to and from Croke Park. The Oval - home of the best Pint of Guinness in Dublin!

This is one of the most icon of Dublin bars. It was part and parcel of the journalist's hangout. It is a quant and nice pub with a long history. It must be visited. As zou are there look and ask about it's history. Many a most famous Irish journalist hung out here waiting to be called for a story... More

Before we were married, my husband took me here because I had never been to Ireland before and I wanted to have a guinness in a proper pub before I went home. It was the first week we had ever spent together so with all the nerves, I had built up quite an appetite. We stopped at the Oval bar... More

Quaint bar with very pleasant service. Set out over three small floors it is a bit of a pain to have to go to the ground floor to reorder. I'll be back though

I visited the Oval bar last Saturday, with a group of friends for a quick bite to eat. As they got off the luas on Abbey street, I seen the Oval nearby and we decided to proceed in. The menu was average but we all agreed on goujons and chips with a couple of mi-wadis. The portions were generous and... More

Visiting Dublin, wife looking for some good Irish Food. Ran across this as it had some on it's menu. Wife had the "Traditional Irish Stew" with Lamb Shoulder Roast. I had the Beef & Guinness Pie. We both agreed that mine was the better of the two. it was well flavored, good mash, some veggies and we loved the mushrooms... More

It was a long time since I had a drink here but this is still a little charming pub. There is the usual few regulars at the bar reading the newspaper while the TV over the door is on but very much in the background. We didn't eat but they had quite a good and well priced menu. A nice... More

Surprised to find a bar so real as this in central Dublin. Having grown up in Dublin I know not to go to the Temple Bar area as its just a hype for tourists. It didn't exist in the '80s. Even though the Oval is just off O'Connell St. it didn't morph withn all the others. Its still a bit... More

Old fashioned, hospitable, comfortable, warm, clean and attractive. With a typical Irish menu and a full set of Irish taps, what more could one ask for in a great place to sit down to a pint of Guiness?
