Description: The Oval Bar is an authentic Irish Pub situated idyllically in the heart...
The Oval Bar is an authentic Irish Pub situated idyllically in the heart of Dublin City on Middle Abbey Street. Housed within a beautiful Victorian building with most of its period features still intact, The Oval is the perfect place to escape from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city outside and provides a haven of welcome and warmth for local office workers on lunch, busy shoppers looking to recharge their batteries, visiting tourists looking for the 'Craic' and music, cinema and theatre goers looking for a bite to eat and a drink before or after their show. Once our patrons step inside our doors they experience the relaxed and convivial nature of our charming pub, our Staff are welcoming and friendly and will ensure that everyone's stay is a pleasant one. With over 3 floors of seating and a large function area with its own private bar facilities available to rent we can accommodate any size group. We also have an outdoor seating area for those lazy Dublin summer evenings. Our kitchen serves a full menu daily with Traditional Irish Stew being one of our specialities! The Oval has long been renowned as an exceptional place to watch 'the match', we show all the major sporting events on our wide screen LCD TVs and has also a great atmosphere for pre or post match celebrations for patrons going to and from Croke Park. The Oval - home of the best Pint of Guinness in Dublin!

Lovely little find

Popped in here for Lunch during the final day of the 6 nations rugby. The pub was showing the rugby (a bonus) and was really busy downstairs. Upstairs, there were 2 large tables of women but it wasn't loud or crowded. We ordered sandwiches (about 4Euro each or 10Euro for a panini which comes... read more

Lovely place to stop and have a drink in a local pub. Felt very welcoming and the service was brilliant. We didn't eat here, however, having seen the food I will return to sample it as it looked lovely.

This is one of those little pubs that, if crowded has little space, though has piles of atmosphere. I personally like this place because there aren't so many tourists come in here, and the local clientele are quite friendly and chatty. Nice typical old school boozer, highly recommended.

This was my first stop in Dublin. I was keen to try the Irish stew. I had dropped my bags and headed straight here. lucky for me, the oval bar was located just around the corner from my hotel and just off the Main Street for shopping. this pub had a great atmosphere. there are two levels, you can choose... Had a quick drink in here at the weekend. It was fairly packed but we got a seat downstairs. We only stayed for one as we were frozen. They have a main door at the front and a door out to the smoking area, which was constantly being left open by smokers going out. The barman to be fair to... More

After a walk up O’Connell Street to the post office on a damp day, a stop to enjoy a full Irish breakfast in this classic (rebuilt) building was a good choice. Ample evidence of its music and sporting traditions.Sat at the window table in the large room on the first floor. Excellent service and atmosphere.

Hubby and I first visited the Oval Bar on Tuesday 13th Jan 2015. It was our first day in Dublin and after an early flight we were just having a lazy wander around the city centre and getting our bearings. This bar is just off O'Connell Street so is handily placed for both shoppers and sightseers alike. Friendly service and... More
