Description: The Oval Bar is an authentic Irish Pub situated idyllically in the heart...
The Oval Bar is an authentic Irish Pub situated idyllically in the heart of Dublin City on Middle Abbey Street. Housed within a beautiful Victorian building with most of its period features still intact, The Oval is the perfect place to escape from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city outside and provides a haven of welcome and warmth for local office workers on lunch, busy shoppers looking to recharge their batteries, visiting tourists looking for the 'Craic' and music, cinema and theatre goers looking for a bite to eat and a drink before or after their show. Once our patrons step inside our doors they experience the relaxed and convivial nature of our charming pub, our Staff are welcoming and friendly and will ensure that everyone's stay is a pleasant one. With over 3 floors of seating and a large function area with its own private bar facilities available to rent we can accommodate any size group. We also have an outdoor seating area for those lazy Dublin summer evenings. Our kitchen serves a full menu daily with Traditional Irish Stew being one of our specialities! The Oval has long been renowned as an exceptional place to watch 'the match', we show all the major sporting events on our wide screen LCD TVs and has also a great atmosphere for pre or post match celebrations for patrons going to and from Croke Park. The Oval - home of the best Pint of Guinness in Dublin!

We found this pub on our walk to O'Connell St. We were thirsty, so we stopped in. What a nice surprise! Quiet, friendly people. We had 2 Guinness. Had a relaxing time.

Just off O'Connell St and with seating outdoors to watch the crowds go by, don't be put off inside by the small busy bar, there's two upper floors for dining. We were greeted and told this as soon as we walked through the door... very friendly. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and super efficient and the food was good with... More

My husband had the best beef stew I've ever tasted, and my salad with poached pears was excellent, as was the service. Wonderful old decor, too--I felt as if I were in a place that had hardly changed in 130 years, though we learned that it had been gutted in the 1916 uprising and then rebuilt.

Found this by accident and went back several times. Really friendly little place with a super barmaid who gave us tips on where to go. Spent an afternoon sitting outside in the sunshine people watching and really didn't want to leave. So much friendlier than some of the other pubs we stumbled upon.

Drank here a few times with friends over NYE. The Guinness is lovely and the bar staff can serve them at an extraordinary rate. We ate there once, the chowder was tasty, as was the smoked salmon. Service was pretty quick. My only criticism is lack of wifi.

We had the the Oval Bar recommended to us by a local couple in Dublin. The ambience was nice, the service outstanding and the food was great. We especially liked the orange cheesecake. We tried to eat there again but there was a large party reserved for upstairs. So would try again next time!
