My go to for seafood in Dublin

Whenever I don't feel like taking the train to Howth but really craving seafood, this is my go to place. It's central and the seafood chowder is amazing. Try the seaweed salad as well.

Matt the Thresher might be too popular for its own good. Dubliners know it and love it so a table is hard to come by. Dining at the bar is a good option. Seafood soup, fish pie, perfect Guinness by the glass, oysters and more are the reasons people come here. Plus a friendly Irish welcome.

We had dinner here recently with another couple and the atmosphere and food were good. The restaurant specializes in their seafood entrees so we tried several to compare. We had reservations for 7:00 PM and when we sat down we were advised that there were only two of the monk fish specials left and if we wanted them we would... More

The eatery itself is a "seafood bar & grill" and the seafood looked and tasted amazing , however the "grill" event lacked with an over cooked burger that was requested medium but cooked to well done and judging by the heat of the plate it was merely down to poor expediting and getting the food to the table. Pate appetizer... More

Found this by chance after visiting the Iveagh Gardens and St. Stephens Green. As mussels were on the menu it became a definite for me. My wife had the salmon salad. The mussels came with garlic bread and an excellent wine and cream sauce (which I couldn't bear to leave so drank it to the bottom). Not a closed mussel... More

I chose this restaurant to celebrate my college graduation. My family and plus ones made a reasonable sized group and we were catered for excellently with no drop in food standards. Everything cooked to perfection.

fresh delicious seafood. Had shrimp and lobster cocktail. My husband had seafood chowder loaded with fish no potatoes. Quiet restaurant a welcome change from loud pubs with loud music. Not inexpensive but good value.

Loved the food! We had the chicken with mushroom sauce. Comes with several sides. Generous portions. Outstanding flavors, great prices and good service. Cant beat that.

I took a visiting work colleague here on a Monday night. It was early but pretty busy. For seafood it was excellent. Really good quality food well cooked and presented. The atmosphere is nice and tables pretty well spaced which contributed to a relaxing meal. My only quibble was that service was exceptionally fast. Starters arrived in less than five... More
