We asked for an Italian or fish restaurant recommendation. Kevin, the concierge at the Shelbourne, suggested Matt the Thresher, as it was a short walk, and

Decided to visit with a friend as the bar had been recommended to me by others. It was extremely busy for a Tuesday so we had to sit at the bar, it took a long time to order our drinks and even longer to order food, can't fault either but an extra bar tender would have made our visit a... More

I took a party of friends for lunch in Matts today, my third time in this restaurant. We all had fish- I had hake which was superb; three of the others had ray and one had sole. All of the fish and veg trimmings were top class. The decor and ambiance make a very pleasant backdrop in this fine restaurant... More

Lovely dining room in light colors, adequate selection of fish and meat entrees. They serve salad here! I had a special - place - pan fried with lime butter and a touch of chili peppers. Fabulous!

We planned a short trip to Dublin for last weekend and decided to go to Matt the Thresher on Saturday night so we booked our table. We arrived about 10 minutes earlier and were greeted and seated immediately, initially we were seated on the balcony which was very nice but the waiter asked us if we were ok with a... More

Tried oysters, smoked salmon, mussels and fish and chips and everything was really good. The service is quick and the food is very well presented. Even Michelle Obama and her daughters ate there! The only downside is that it is a bit expensive.

Visited for the second time last week (previously visited about 1 year ago on my last trip to Dublin). The menu is fairly simple, enticing and very well cooked with a nice selection of specials. The service was also very good and a small mistake with my dessert (wrong ice cream) was swiftly put right. I like the layout of... More

I have been in the restaurant last Sunday with my boyfriend and his parents for an afternoon meal. The restaurant was quite empty so they satisfied our request to be sitted by the window. The staff was friendly and we didn't wait long for the food. The place itself is really nice and different from the rest of restaurants you... More

An open, bright and airy space, divided into multiple levels and rooms so it doesn’t feel crowded or noisy. Starters of chowder (one of the best we’ve ever had) and beet/bleu salad were excellent. Shellfish pot was over-abundant with tasty shellfish – wish there was a broth to dip the garlic bread into, but it was a cooking broth (salty),... More
