The desk clerk at our hotel recommend Matt The Thresher for a good seafood restaurant. Good is an understatement! Everything about Matt's is excellent; from the stunning restaurant design, to the service and to the wonderful fish dinners we ate. Also Matt's has a very vibrant bar scene.

We stopped in on a Monday night without a reservation and got the last two seats. We went on the recommendation of Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. They had crab cakes as special appetizer and five different fish as special that day. I tried the seafood chowder and we also got the crab cakes. They were good. The... More

I sought out this place after reading others' TA reviews, and I'm sure glad I did. Very upbeat and stylish and plenty of sunlight on a summer evening. I was solo, so sat at the bar and was treated very well by my bartender/server. While he told me that the shrimp dishes were very popular, I live in an area... More

I see this restaurant is categorised on TA as 'Fish' but there are plenty of meat dishes, I had the mussels starter followed by the Sheperd's Pie and they were both delicious. The waiter was very helpful with the wine list and menu so my friend and I had a very pleasant meal. The location is the old Pembroke Bar... More

This is a fish restaurant and very reasonably priced. The food was very fresh and the service competent. Definitely recommended.

I lunched alone recently in this restaurant as I had an hour to kill between business appointments. The staff were very friendly and the Maitre D/Manager welcomed me on arrival and even though it was booked out for lunch he found a spot for me at the bar. I had the fish pie which was delicious. Will return soon!

We were a party of 12 and all sat together on a round table which meant we could all talk together. The atmosphere and decor were great and the food absolutely delicious.

I've been here quite a few times. The food is always decent. In fact the last time I was there with colleagues and we all agreed it was quite delicious. Most had the steak but I had a perfectly cooked John Dory. One colleague had a seafood platter which looked very impressive. The steaks were very a nice size, tender and... More

I was in on Sunday 26 May last. The food was good, decent size portions and good value for money. The main problem with Matt the Thrashers however was having to wait so long to get served! The restaurant wasn't that busy but it still took over 2hrs between us arriving and leaving. Most of this time was waiting for... More

This restaurant has great seafood and a very nice bar. We had shrimp cocktails, fish and shepherds pie, all good choices. There is a beautiful chandelier with copper piping running through the restaurant and the overall look of the restaurant is open and airy.
