I dined here just before Christmas and the place was humming - just as well we booked! We dined on Ted Brown's Dingle bay prawn and mussel linguine and roast cod which was their daily special - we had a Desmond cheese caesar salad as an accompaniment. The meal was really excellent and washed down with a good bottle Finca... More

Had two wonderful meals in December. The food and decor are wonderful. Try the prawns on toast as a starter or the linguine for main course - beautiful. The service and especially the friendliness of the staff needs to improve somewhat. But overall had a very pleasant time each visit and I will be back. A good local eatery like... More

Came here during the festive season with my other half, got a great table by the window. Was pushed towards their wine of the month, it went perfectly with our two fillet steaks, cooked to perfection. The place was buzzing and had a great atmosphere. Nice to be able to see directly into the kitchen. All the staff were on... More

We went to The Sussex just before Xmas and booked a table last minute, although it was really busy they accommodated us - no problems just asked us to come back in 30mins so we had a lovely drink in what is a great Irish pub (O'Briens) directly downstairs... The food was so good hearty, delicious and so fresh... Our... More

Had a lovely meal here tonight, booked table for 17.30 and when we arrived restaurant was quite and atmospheric. We ate from the early bird menu, 2 courses €19.50, had the chicken supreme which was served on a bed of potatoes, spinach and butternut squash, drizzled with fabulous pesto. Dessert was lemon posset with seasonal fruit and shortbread biscuit. The... More

What a great night. We were told to go by a friend and we were not disappointed. We asked the very nice waiter Ian to suggest some app's which he did. Started with dingle prawns and Smokies!!! What a treat they were!! Mains were the very different lamb Shepards pie but fabulously delicious and a great fish and chips. No... More

We LOVED the Sussex , Its hard to find restaurants with good atmosphere along with great food. Love the way its central but not too central so great for parking if you want to take a car. We finished off our boozie lunch down stairs in the traditional Irish pub. Its our new favourite.

This restaurant is my favorite in the city, tucked above O'Brien's pub which is a great pub to start the evening off with a drink. The food is Irish inspired, consistently delicious and wholesome. There is lots of choice on the menu from fish dishes, pastas, salads and meat and the specials are always fantastic - try the deserts too!... More

We had dinner at the Sussex and were very impressed with the cozy dining area with an inviting fireplace and Blue Willow plates. The menu is very imaginative and varied. My husband ordered the Shepherd's Pie and I ordered an original salad with rocket, quinoa, blueberries, feta, beets and more. Both were delicious. Finished the meal by sharing the fig... More
