We had a beautiful meal in The Sussex. We both had the Ted Browne Dingle Bay prawns served on home baked Irish wheaten bread, absolutely delicious, couldn't recommend them enough. The restaurant was welcoming and cosy with a fire blazing in the corner. The staff where very friendly and attentive. It's a little out from Dublin's centre but well worth... More

The place is very nice, with very hospital ppl in. We went there after rugby match in Dublin and entered very cozy atmosphere in the restaurant (on the second floor); the food was very good, service - perfect with some local very interesting Beers.

Unfortunately it is closed on Mondays, there is not the greatest deal of space, and the menu is rather limited. Having said all this, the food they do have is excellent quality (Nutella Cheesecake is fantastic!), the staff are very friendly and helpful and the prices should suit most budgets. One visit coincided with a large group of American tourists... More

Went here with friends for a nice meal. The service was brilliant, really nice and friendly. The soda bread was nice, maybe a bit sweet but otherwise fine. For my meal I had the prawn and chorizo linguine which was perfect apart from pasta being a bit soft. For dessert I had a very yummy cheese board. I would definitely... More

Visited twice recently, once as a group of 6 and once as part of a larger group. Only noticed it when I was in Canal Bank Cafe across the road one day. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Upstairs from OBriens. Bistro type food that is memorable enough to say that you would be back again. Just remembered I was... More

A bit off the beaten track and all the better for it. Very good locally-sourced food and, if you are Guinnessed out, there is an excellent range of small brewery 'craft' beers. Service was excellent. We went once to try it out and my wife returned a few days later with her small tour group - all of whom rated... More

Dinner was good, not great. The mushroom soup was just average. Their was a delicious salad with blueberries, beets, broccoli and sweet potatoes. A tasty combination! The entrees were pretty good, just not as great as I expected after reading the reviews. Somewhat disappointed.

This little place just up the stairs and near the canal was great for us. Since we like to eat Irish food in Ireland, etc. this was a good start. The clientele was nearly all locals. I had the braised lamb Sheppard's pie, which was so good my wife started making it after we got home. My wife had the... More

Ate here on our first night in Ireland at the recommendation of the staff at Number 31. On a busy Friday night, they accommodated us without reservations and gave us a delightful introduction to Dublin nightlife. Delicious meal, fun atmosphere, charming painted paneling decor. What else is there? Oh yeah, O'Briens pub is downstairs. Add this one to your list!

Loved our dinner at The Sussex our last night in Dublin. Upstairs location was very fun and provided us with a great view. Excellent service and delicious Irish fare. The beef stew was a standout. Wonderful menu, a great value.
