Great local pub

Great local pub, just popped in for a quick drink and was greeted by very friendly locals. Great for beer and a large selection of wines!

Very old-school style pub. Not a great range of drinks but we popped in after being in Forrest Avenue. Service was friendly. Toilets need a bit of a facelift.. One of two corners or snug areas that are nice for when you're in a group and want to sit together. 2-3 normal sized screens for watching sport (they were showing... More

Had dinner at the Sussex last night with some friends, I had very poor fish and chips, totally overcooked although the accompanying pea puree was ok. Tiramisu cheesecake was good as was the coffee but overall standard of food is just above pub grub, nothing special, there are many better restaurants in the locality.

Four of us went here to celebrate my father's birthday and we all really enjoyed it. The restaurant is relatively small but has a very pleasant ambience. We had a good spacious table and did not feel were were on top of other diners.I had calamari, seafood linguini and sticky toffee pudding afterwards - all very tasty. My partner had... More

I live this restaurant, been there before and got back there this time also. Great food, bread is amazing, main dishes like the fish, pork belly and others are wonderful, service is excellent and the restaurant is full with life, cheerful atmosphere.

Visited what we thought was The Sussex in the day and thought it was a pub which didn't need reservation, found out in the night it was a classy and stylish place upstairs of the pub. It was extremely busy but they squeezed us in on the bar. We had a lovely woman serving us and two polite men behind... More

My partner and I came here for dinner during a weekend in Dublin as we wanted a good steak and went based on the TripAdvisor reviews. Well, we were not let down!! Dinner was fantastic! We had a high stool table, but had enough space and the friendliest waitress that looked after us from our arrival to our departure. We... More

The food and ale options were very nice. Venation I ordered was just amazing. They served nice bread as complimentary, Portions of mains are a bit smaller than normal.

Some places are worth the splurge. This is a very nice bistro with very good food but I'm not sure it's quite worth the price. I had the Shepherds Pie based on the many reviews I read extolling its virtues. Good, yes, but worth twice what I would pay for the same at my local pub? It was better than... More

We arrived at approx 6pm on a Sunday evening. We were warmly greeted by every member of staff we encountered while being shown to our table. A warm friendly ambiance prevailed, with an open fire adding to the atmosphere.Knowing the famous O Briens Pub is downstairs, I ordered a pint of Guinness while we perused the menus. We were offered full a...
