Less happy than hitherto ...

Myself and HERSELF are regulars at Locks - it is a "local" restaurant to us. Food is generally very pleasant, and service is attentive and friendly. I would make one serious criticism. Locks has gone through a number of "reinventions", and a number of Head Chefs. The present menu format, which... read more

Being from France you wouldn't imagine that you could find French food as good or even better than some of the most famous French restaurant. I highly recommend it!!!

I was brought to Locks recently for Sunday lunch as a birthday treat. There were four of us dining. We where seated at a lovely window seat with views of the canal, perfect for people watching. We decided to try the mystery tasting menu with accompanying wine. What a great treat. The food was fantastic; my favourite dish was the... More

Very good dinner in Locks. The value for money is fine. The veal as a starter with truffle was delicious. Our mains were also excellent. Get the turbot and you won't be disappointed. The Mille Feuille nevertheless was average.

It's nearly there just a few adjustments would do - more choice on the menu and a tweak to the decor including most of all the blinds.

We decided to treat ourselves to a good lunch before flying back to Leeds at the end of a week in Ireland. We chose Lock's because of the excellent Lonely Planet review and ended up having the best meal of the holiday. The location is lovely and we enjoyed the walk there from the city centre. There was a warm... More

This place is a real treat to visit. There is a feeling that a lot of thought has gone into every detail of every aspect of the restaurant from seating to service to food. For starters I ate a foi gras dish like I've never tasted the likes of before. The lightly chargrilled piece was served with brioche and stewed... More

We are relatively regular visitors to Locks, and have never had anything less than a wonderful evening. The food is wonderful, but the staff and the atmosphere of the restaurant are what make it really special- truly top class, but at the same time relaxed and welcoming, and never stuffy. It is a beautiful location, right on the edge of... More
