Beautiful location. Service was hurried. We were asked a number of times by different servers if we were ready to order. Food was excellent but simply not enough of it. My main was suckling pig and i would have been disappointed with the portion size as a starter. There was no side dish and I enquired as to the possibility... More

Belated eview. First off to be fair....we ate here with the previous chef. I see a new chef has taken over the kitchen (?). If not then chef needs to shape up his kitchen. First time here and easy enough to find…just outside the city centre and right by the Grand Canal beyond Portobello. We luckily had a lovely table... More

Thank you for your review of your experience in October of last year; we are sorry that it did not live up to your expectations; however, we strongly suggest that you return to Locks in 2015 and experience the new concept, new menus, new dishes by our new chef and new team. Then please feel free (and we encourage you)... More

I went here on a Tuesday evening and it wasn't very busy - perhaps 5 other tables. The staff were very attentive, and they give you a run down of your meal when they bring you the plate (this is the pork belly, this is the truffle aioli etc). Nicely fancy, quite expensive, small portions. However, the food was all... More

I have been here numerous times over the past two years, and put simply, this is the best restaurant in Dublin. The food is fantastic, the service is top notch, and the setting (by the canal), cannot be beaten.

From when we walked in to when we left, our experience here was just fantastic. Friendly happy staff chatted away to us at the bar as we waited for our table at this cosy buzzing restaurant, our waiter was great and sorted my vegan requirements with a quick chat with the kitchen, soon the appetiser arrived with aside of fresh bread.... Went for lunch on a sunny Saturday at end of January and were warmly welcomed to the bright and comfortable dining room. We were entertained while waiting by the antics of swans on the canal across the road who jostled with the group of canoeists going up-stream. We decided to have the three course lunch plus an appetiser. As each... More

This place has a new chef and new prices to match! I had salmon, cured & tartare as an appetiser with some really weird black ink crisp and other odd stuff. Then I had the truly wonderful foie gras with rhubarb - combination superb but I couldn't understand the 'add-on' of mushroom toast although it was good. On to the... More

New chef Karl Breen is cooking up a storm. A short menu has some absolute gems on it. Highlights include the sweetbreads and truffle starter with a delicious, unctuous trompet, dill and vinegar jus and crispy kale; foie gras two ways, served innovatively with rhubarb; venison saddle with yoghurt, beetroot and hibiscus. There is a star returning to Locks as... More
