palate pleasing yet budget friendly

My husband, daughter and I had just one night to dine in Dublin. We were lucky 1) to get a table last minute 2) to get a table last minute at The Pigs Ear. Each course from appetizer to dessert was fabulous. Typically "budget friendly" and "fine dining" don't go hand in hand, but kudos to the... read more

Enjoyed the setting and the atmosphere a great deal. The food was good but not the high quality I expected. In all fairness my family are "foodies" and have very high expectations.

Called in without a booking and was lucky enough to get in for the great value early evening menu which runs 5:30 to 6:30pm. I started with Crispy Pig' Croquettes which were very tasty, crispy on the outside and served on something that looked like a piece of wood but was in fact a plate. I followed this with slow... It won't be long until this places gets a Michelin Star... Crab starter, amazing. Pork belly main, amazing. Brown bread ice cream desert, amazing. Wine, amazing. Friendly professional staff and a great little restaurant. How it is priced so cheaply is beyond me! Highly recommended, will definitely return!

My wife and I were in Dublin on our honeymoon and this was our first full day together in a foreign country. We walked all over the city and found this place which is upstairs above the busy street. The food is as amazing as it is beautiful. The starter, the meal, and the dessert were all perfect. If you're... More

Not your typical Irish meal at all --- big flavors with modern touches. Very cute dining room. Staff was all very nice and accommodating. Really enjoyed it.

Prior to visiting the restaurant to take our table I had been made a little cautious by the telephone call (to the UK) to confirm our reservation and the impression on arrival that the restaurant was full to capacity: were we, I wondered going to be hounded through our meal (an anniversary celebration) in order that the table could be... We visited this restaurant a few weeks ago, was a little disappointed with the meal, average at best, surprised at all the excellent reviews...

The food was very good - great use of fresh vegetables, colors and lots of complex flavors. The beet soup was great, but half a portion would be adequate!
