Very good but a little bit underwhelmed

I must confess that I've only eaten here once and I had such high expectations of the place because of the reputation of its sister restaurant in Ardmore that I was slightly underwhelmed when I fanally ate here. Beautiful "chic" decor, beautiful people, superb fish cooked to perfection, excellent service, reasonable prices and all that within walking distance to all Dublin's Central attractions, what more to ask ?

I dined here on a sunny Saturday evening in July. The meal was lovely - but missing some of the touches of the fine dining establishments in Dublin - justifying the 4, not 5 stars. The cocktails were delightful - really unique, refreshing and generous. The wine list was also pleasantly priced - something for everyone. There's no amusé bouche,... More

Two of us went here for a special (mid-week) lunch. We had grilled mackerel and seafood pie. Both were excellent, as were the starters and desserts. The dining room is in a lovely room overlooking Stephen's Green. Excellent service too.

We were looking for the other one and thought this was it. (So much for just having the address and not the name.) We ended up with an excellent meal. I had the fish pie which was filled with a variety of seafood and topped with mashed potatoes. My husband had fish and chips done in a wheat/gluten free tempura... More

The atmosphere sports a wonderful seafood theme - silver scallop shell sconces, a baroque revival chandelier in one section, and a contemporary faux-seaweed chandelier in another section. Seating includes leather banquettes. We received outstanding, friendly, helpful service from every single staff member, whether assigned to our table or not. They were all knowledgeable and able to answer detailed questions about... More

Friends took us to this lovely restaurant on Saint Stephen's Green. Seafood is featured in creative ways. My scallops were served with a thin slice of tongue, for example. Small squid stuffed with goat cheese and vegetables was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Fish pie was traditional and tasty.

Chose to eat here based on on reports on TA but must admit overall feeling after visit was that it fell short of expectations, so would need to say "could do better" Place was busy, and we ended up at table that crammed very close to an elderly lady eating alone, making any attempt at a private conversation difficult Waiter... Located in a townhouse building, the atmosphere was lively, and fun, and the food delicious. A little on the pricey side, but a great meal. The fish and chips were excellent.

If you love seafood, this place will put a smile on your face. It's not cheap but you get the level of service and food that you're paying for and the atmosphere and ambience is very relaxed and enjoyable.
