We had an early bird family celebration meal here in January. One of our party had a serious food allergy which was discussed in advance of our arrival and numerous times during the ordering and serving phase. Even with all that she was served a dish which if she had eaten would have resulted with an A&E visit for sure.... More

Strange smell in restaurant which got stuck in the back of my throat all night. Food was overcooked and had no discernible taste other than salt. There was a strange blackish brown smear on the side of the table. Spotted a fly crawling on uncovered food. There was a curly black hair in my table water. Complained to the waiter... More

Was here over just over the weekend and would have to say I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Had the wild mussels for starters and the monkfish for mains, definitely a place for seafood though I tried a bit of their beef and it's delish as well. Creme brulee was amazing and staff is very attentive! We stayed for a lock... More

Had a great meal with friends at Cliff Townhouse and it was a real treat. The seafood is excellent and the ambiance is chic without being pretentious. The stereo as well as the music choice would need some upgrading though. We each had a lovely starter (lobster raviolo was exquisite) and shared two large seafood platters between us (one hot... The Cliff Townhouse occupies one of the splendid mansions in Dublin's St. Stephen's Green and is truly at the heart of the city. If you get one of the window tables, you'll be able to watch the great and the good of Dublin walk by on the Green... but meantime, you'll need to pay attention to the food that's served... More

Ate here with a colleague on a busy weekday lunchtime and was really underwhelmed. The seafood starter was nice but that's about as enthusiastic as I can get. My colleague had soup which he said was delicious. We both ordered the steak...one medium and the other medium rare, but the waiter got them the wrong way round when he placed... More

I went here as a part of a group of 5 friends. It was almost impossible to hear what anyone at our table was saying. Younger people, perhaps, enjoy this kind of place but as an older person I found it abhorrent. Our food can only be described as average. We had heard so much about the fish dishes here... More

Dear crottpk, I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience in the restaurant. December is definitely the busiest month of the year for us and I do agree, the restaurant can get quite noisy! I do hope this won't put you off trying us again in the future. Sunday is always a very casual and relaxed day... More

I had high hopes for the restaurant after a couple of stays at The Cliff House Hotel. However the entire experience left me under whelmed. The service was truly average and I was surprised that the service staff didn't seem to exude the service mentality of the Hotel restaurant staff. The bathrooms were little better than a Pub loo and... More

My husband booked here as a surprise for my birthday and we were really looking forward to it as a special treat. Sadly it didn't live up to expectations. The location was perfect, Stephens Green was magical with the Christmas markets, and the atmosphere outside was very special. Inside - first impressions were good, the building is very impressive.
