Description: The Blackboard Bistro understands the simple art of Risotto and a starter of leek and bacon risotto with fresh oregano, lemon zest & creme fraiche proves this point beautifully with all the flavours balanced, expressive and just right. Excellent French style bistro, short menu but something for all tastes, with meat, fish and vegetarian options. Our fussy eater loved his steak, the pork fillet was meltingly tender and the fondant au chocolat was 'to die for'! One small criticism was that two orders of pastis were brought to the table with ice and water already added - most... More

The wait staff were wonderful. We didn't have reservations, it was pouring rain and they worked us in.

I eat at the BlackBoard Bistro fairly regularly as it is an unassuming restaurant with very good French Food at reasonable prices. The menu is interesting and the wine list good. I recommend it for a good night of eating and relaxing. The standard is constant so is a place to return to!

Blackboard Bistro is an unassuming, but charming, basement bistro in the heart of the Trinity College-Merrion Square area. Walking from our hotel we almost passed it by on quiet Clare St. It's just the kind of family-run and passionate-about-food small place we love. With a French chef in the kitchen and his charming wife waiting table, we were greeted warmly... More

Our large party of ten were not very happy with the recommendation from our Hotel staff regarding The Blackboard Bistro in our last night in Ireland. The waiter was stressed rushing about and not very friendly at all. Several of us odered the steak and found it very tough and fatty; I had the pork and enjoyed it however. When... More

I brought my 5 year old daughter to lunch in The Blackboard Bistro last week. We were in Dublin visiting the museum around the corner and it was a great excuse to go for a decent meal (I have had dinner here 3 or 4 times previously, so I knew it would be good), plus I hadn't been back since... I meant to write this a few weeks back. I had lunch here with a friend that I hadn't seen in far too long. The food was really really good and the service was very friendly, highly recommended for a top quality lunch. It's a small restaurant and a little more expensive than others but the food quality and presentation... More
