Description: The Blackboard Bistro understands the simple art of Risotto and a starter of leek and bacon risotto with fresh oregano, lemon zest & creme fraiche proves this point beautifully with all the flavours balanced, expressive and just right. Everything else that comes from the kitchen is just as precise! Mc Kenna Guides - 100 best Irish Restaurants 2013

This is such a lovely restaurant. the food was gorgeous, the waitress so accommodating and friendly and a really good atmosphere. I think it will become my new favourite place in dublin!

Our book club recently met in the Blackboard Bistro. We check out a new restaurant when we meet and at the end of the evening rate the book and the venue. Blackboard Bistro scored 44 out of a possible 60, which is one of our highest ratings. Food, service and atmosphere were great and we really liked the fact that... More

This is small jewel near Merrion square. It is a a super small restaurant in the basement. Inside it is very nice and the personnel is very friendly. The food was delicious. We tried a good bottle of Merlot, a nice soup and the steak. Desserts are great and include Affogato and Panna cotta. They have also a voucher for... More

One of my top 5 restaurants in Dublin. Delicious yet completely unpretentious French cooking with an Irish tilt by Pierre in this gem of a restaurant in a Clare St. basement. The service is always great and I'm always warmly welcomed by the front of house crew whether on a business lunch or with my wife or family. My only... More

We were a group of 20 who enjoyed a wonderful evening at this welcoming bistro on 20 October. Menu is good and not overwhelmed with choice, which sometimes can be a bad thing in terms of quality. I enjoyed a beautiful terrine, followed by a juicy rib eye steak. Several of our guests enjoyed the lamb shank which I will... More

Exquisitely prepared food, attractively served, prompt attention, fine wine, and cheaper than most comparable restaurants.

This restaurant may be easily missed as it's down steps but it's well worth it. I have given five blobs but I do have a couple of minor quibbles. We were disappointed to be seated by the toilets especially as we had booked. I find it very annoying when you've finished a course and the plates are not cleared away... More

Visited here on a Thursday evening. Restaurant is quite small but friendly & welcoming. The decor is exactly what you would expect from a french bistro - simple. Staff very friendly and proved to be very knowledgeable - especially in relation to the wine list which was very select. The service was prompt at all time and the waitress was... More

My partner and I have been here a few times and it is one of our favourite places to go in Dublin. They change the menu every 10 days or so and the food is really good. The steak is top notch. Excellent wine menu, we had a lovely cabernet franc, staff were very enthusiastic when we asked for a... More

Visited here on a weeknight, enjoyed their early bird. Was a bit disappointed that the wood pigeon listed on the website's menu wasn't on the early bird. Other than that, really enjoyable. Friendly, helpful staff and excellent food well presented We had a bit of a wait but considering the size of our group that was to be expected.
