Seriously good food

Excellent Irish ingredients cooked to perfection, the kilkeel scallops being particularly good. French style service with the waiters being discrete but attentive. Enormously generous portions could have been less since we were unable to eat all the food. My only criticism was the lack of spirits... read more

I was very disappointed with my dining experience in Hugos. We went for the early bird and I thought the menu was very limited. I had steak which came with pre salted chips, no garnish or vegetable, and as this had a supplement charge I was expecting more. I also do not like pre salted chips and feel customers should... We were lucky enough to sit at Table 1, by the window on Saturday night. The service was excellent, the atmosphere and decor was second to none and the food was very tasty. I had crab to start, my partner the soup, both of which were full of taste and presentation was superb. He had the fillet steak which he... More

This restaurant has a particularly extensive wine list. The food is very good, including all the standard items such as steaks, shoulders of lamb, and battered fish. The portions are generous and service is prompt. The cheese board is a good choice.

This is one of the best meals I have had in a Dublin City centre restaurant. We went for the early bird which was very good value, the food was tasty and well presented. The service was excellent and unobtrusive and we were not put under any pressure to vacate our table. Would certainly recommend as a good place to... More

We stopped in for an early dinner and were greeted warmly but then waited for ten minutes for anyone to take our order although there was only one other table and multiple wait staff. The waiter who took our wine order was aloof and did not offer recommendations when we asked for a varietal, only stating that they have varietals... More

We arrive late to Hugo's with the kitchen closing in 20 minutes. They not only accommodated us, the gave us wonderful service and didn't rush us in the least. The decor is pretty and setting intimate. Our food was wonderful, the wine good, and we all enjoyed our dinner. We will be back on future visits.

I'm in Dublin for a few days of work and Hugo's was chosen on a "it looks interesting," basis. A well-chosen menu of great food (and very well executed) was complimented wonderfully by some of the best service (spirit, care and, most impressive of all, when no service was needed, invisible) I have ever experienced in a restaurant. It was... More

Enjoyed the prix fixe 2 course dinner for under 22 euros with some additional charge for certain dishes; we enjoyed appetizers of the delicious crab mix on butter lettuce leaves (+3), salmon, and entrees of pasta special, plaice and chips, steak (+4). Nice ambiance and good service.

Called in at 8:30 on a Monday evening. Good crowd and atmosphere, and an excellent menu. My colleague and I had the braised beef and fillet steak dishes. Both were cooked to perfection and the food was delicious. The team serving us were fantastic. Quick and attentive but giving you space. I will be back!
