We visited this restaurant on a busy friday evening. The first thing we noticed was the effort by all members of the staff to provide a very high standard of service to all guests. The restaurant is visited by guests of the hotel but also by people who just want to dine in a good restaurant. All members of staff... More

Sampled lunch and dinner here while attending a function. Lunch was a decent soup and sandwich. Dinner in the main room of soup starter, steak main and mixed plate dessert was okay. The hotel itself is excellent but the large group catering maybe not 5-star on that occasion.

Stayed at the castle for a 3 night luxurious stay and the most I got was food poisoning! Ruined a whole week of my 2 week trip to Ireland. Will never return to the castle but will return to a Donegal.

I've just returned from holidaying in Donegal and we visited Cedars Grill for my birthday. Yes it was expensive but we all found the food absolutely delicious so I'm surprised by the reviews below. Just goes to show you can't please everyone. The staff were wonderful and friendly and even sang happy birthday to me! We ordered starters and mains... More

Pros: Pleasant Setting, Friendly Knowledgeable Staff Cons: Over Priced food Visited this restaurant while staying in the Solis Hotel and came away disappointed. The disappointment came from the fact that by charging over €50 per head for a Table D'hote menu you expect something really good. This was not the case with this restaurant as I have had meals as... This restaurant is a travesty of a mockery of a sham. At first glance, the menu seemed extortionately overpriced (starting at 55€ a head & with extra charges for sides), extremely limited and more suited to the dead of winter. Once our reluctant choices appeared on table our worst fears were confirmed. A so-called amuse-bouche consisted of little jars containing... More

Stayed at Solis Loch Eske Castle 7th. November to 10th. Had breakfast each morning in Cedars Grill and found Service to be excellent from attentive staff. Tea or Coffee is served to the table and made use of the ample supply and variety of fresh fruits, Serials, bread etc. Passed on good selection of cold meets and opted for Cooked... More

My second visit and was a surprise... was disappointed the first time by the quality off the food, have been surprise tonight, good food good product and most important polite staff. A little expensive specially the starter. Need to work on the finitions off the dish and the presentation.

Why are there no reviews on this restaurant. It has a beautiful decor, amazing food and excellent service. We almost avoided the restaurant because there were no reviews so I feel it is very important to send our thoughts. 5 star for sure

I'm not sure if the first reviewer is talking about the right place. Cedars Grill is located within Solis Lough Eske Hotel. There are two restroom facilities equidistant to the restaurant (10 steps away!) and one of them have a disabled/changing facilities. Anyway, we had a meal there on three separate occasions, Oct 2011, jan 2012 and June 2012. It... More
