The Market House restaurant on the Diamond, Donegal Town, has built up an enviable reputation for quality food at affordable prices. Fronting onto the Diamond's iconic monument, the interior is spacious and traditional with a clever twist of modern decor. The Market House name originated from the old historical Market Hall which was located in the current building. The perfect place to stop and dine along the Wild Atlantic Way. The Early Bird option available from 5.00 Pm to 7.30 Pm is ideal for anyone on a budget or who simply likes to eat early. Our chef has created an excellent three course menu for only €24.95 Or two course for €20.00. The local trade is very important use local businesses for fresh produce that is sourced locally. The Sunday Carvery is very impressive three course meal for only €22.00,And it's available from 12 noon to 4.00 Pm. For those on the move or need a quick bite, the restaurant offers a Carvery Lunch from €7.00 From 12.00 Noon to 4.00 Pm, Monday to Saturday.

Looked inviting and glad we tried it

Just arrived around 2;00 and looking for lunch that wasn't pub food. Stepped inside to a great aroma and saw the buffet. Had "thanksgiving" style meal with turkey and stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce and vegetables. Husband had beef tops and son had ham. All good and filling. Something... read more

This restaurant had a nice atmosphere with music playing in the background. My wife had potato soup as a starter which was very nice, I went for the duck as a starter and it was dry and stringy and the salad was bland. My wife had beef stirfry which was dry and overcooked, I had the salmon which was very... More

We had the seafood chowder - it was outstanding! The staff there were so friendly and accommodating! They let us pick out exactly what we wanted on our sandwiches and were very patient with us as we decided. My husband chose the turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sandwich and he also was very pleased . I would eat there when in... More

I hadn't had much for breakfast so called into the Abbey Hotel looking for a bite to eat. We noticed the carvery was being served in the Market House Restaurant so decided on it. My husband opted for the roast beef and I had the turkey and ham dinner. Both of us had all the vegetables going! We thoroughly enjoyed... More

Steak on the Rock gets a great rating !!! A great idea and well served as was our salmon starter. However, after that not so great. It was a Sunday evening and the staff seemed more interested in cleaning up while we were eating and going home. Also the choice of desserts at 19:30 could at best be called weak... More

The menu is lovely as is the ambiance. The staff was nice, the timing gave some time to digest between courses but wasn't too long. I had the steak on the rock which was very good especially with the sweet pepper sauce. Only downfall to this item is while it's cooking on the rock it's also splattering and can land... More

Thanks to ann & her staff for a lovely family birthday dinner in The Market House Restaurant. Food is just lovely. Plentiful, tasty and well presented by efficient friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make the night just perfect. The "wine and dine" menu is great value with a great selection of starters and mains and a good bottle... More

Staying for four nights on a Dancing for Pleasure Week, the food was excellent each night and on our Anniversary, we decided to go a-la-carte.... WONDERFUL! The chowder was the best we've ever tasted and the main course 'Steak on the Stone' and the Scallops+Prawns were so succulent - so tender (the steak cooks itself while on the stone-amazing!). The... Four tired walkers had an absolutely fantastic meal here a few weeks back. Egg & Noodle started a little dry and unremarkable but the ribs were great. Sirloin steaks were up there with the best. Service was top rate and they even threw in a special birthday treat for one of our party. Very obliging staff. Busy place though so... More
