Tried this place based on Trip Advisor reviews. We were happy we did. As other reviews said, it is very small and the tables are pretty close together. We went early so we didn't have to deal with a full place. Our waitress seated us, saying that we would need to be finished by 8:30 as people with reservations would... More

I have to say the meal I had was one of the best I've ever had eating out. I had smoked chicken ravioli for starters. The pasta was so fine it just melted in your mouth, and the sauce was delicious. I then had the Barbary duck for main. The cardamon puree was out of this world, and the risotto... More

It was my first time in Star Anise on Friday night, I went there with my family (we were a table of 5) around 8 o clock, a very busy time to dine and I was impressed how well they accommodated us so. Its a small place with about 10 tables but I didn't feel squished or uncomfortable at all.... More

Quality food, full of flavour and well priced. One of Cork's best restaurants. Always holds a consistent standard.

After traveling for the better part of 2 weeks with our 2 teenage boys, we were delighted when they offered to grab some fast-food for themselves, and give my wife and I a night out. We chose Star Anise [after reading TripAdvisor reviews] and were very glad we did. It was absolutely a fine meal. We had crab cakes and... More

Had a really nice early dining experience here last week. We both chose from the early bird menu which was very good value for money and is available all night early in the week. Service was friendly, food was beautifully cooked and atmosphere is relaxed. 10/10 for us!

My sister, a friend and I decided to try somewhere we've never been before for a quick meal before we traipsed over to a show in the Opera House. Honestly, it was the best meal I've had in a very long time. We had the crab cake and aubergine and feta parcels starters. Gnocchi, Duck confit and steak main course.... More

Visited here with family and opted for the "early bird" menu. Superb quality and excellent value. There were four of us and two opted for steak. Cooked exactly as ordered and delicious. Lamb and Hake were beautiful and there were very happy customers. No hesitation in recommending Star Anise. One quibble - the design of the tables can be uncomfortable... More

Seven of us had a wonderful meal in Star Anise recently. We are all from Cork, and all foodies, all in our 50s, even though we still call ourselves 'girls'! One of our group is a regular at Star Anise and always praises her trips to there. Our meal really lived up to our expectations. We all had the early... More

Just spent a four days in Cork and found this restaurant by chance. The Early Bird 2 or 3 course menu was so attractive and such good value that we gave it try. It was so good that we went back the next night! The welcome and service was excellent, as was the food. Lovely French lady in charge and... More
