I've passed this restaurant many times on the way home, and always wondered what it was like .I've always heard very good things about the Star Anise. Well - I wonder no more! Went there for our wedding anniversary, and I have to say the meal we had was one of the best I've eaten. The place is small, so... More

On Saturday night we went to Star Anise in Cork after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. I can only say that were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and the choice and the presentation were exceptional. The only little thing I will have to say is that the service was very good, just a little bit too quick, we both had... Food was pleasant and staff were very friendly but I found the prices far too expensive considering the food was average.

We went for a meal on a Saturday evening in October based on reviews read on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. A small friendly restaurant close to the city centre. The place was busy with a lively atmosphere. Surroundings were casual and friendly. The food was excellent, especially the soft-boiled egg starter and smoked chicken ravioli, made with the finest... After hearing good things about Star Anise in town on on TA, I stopped by. Several times. They were busy and I didn't have a reservation. Finally made it in. It was well worth the wait. On the advice of one of their regulars at the next table, I had some delicious prawns over a salad with wonderfully subtle tastes.... More

I thought this was a really unfussy interior but lovely, simply made, perfectly cooked food. The staff were laidback, friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and the steak done exactly as requested. The creme brulee was cool and creamy underneath and hot and crunchy on top. To die for. I would recommend this to... Their food is lovely, but it was coming out so fast I must say I would have preferred a slower service. Plus food was filling and by the end of the dinner..I was so staffed I found hard to move! Interior is quiet average and I would prob not pick this place for a special occasion. However their cheesecake is... More

We ate here recently and would echo the other reviews. The restaurant is compact but thankfully the owners have not made the mistake of over filling it with tables and have instead created a warm cosy and inviting atmosphere. The food is delicious from the starters with home made breads, to stylishly presented main courses and the desserts are indeed... More

Went on Saturday night based on a review from trip adviser. Went for the early bird menu was not disappointed. Food was devine as was the wine. special mention for the trio of apples for dessert and the passion fruit panna cotta, heaven on a plate. Service is very good attentive but not over intrusive. Wish I lived closer to... More

We have been to this restaurant a few times now and have walked away thoroughly satisfied each time. It is a smallish restaurant with a cosy feel to it. The waitress there is a genuinely lovely woman and a pleasure to chat to. She is also very attentive and we were certainly never left needing anything. The fillet steak here... More
