The Gallery Café is as described inside the Cork Crawford Gallery. It is situated on the ground floor and is always full of a mixture of visitors to the gallery, students and shoppers. Its pretty large inside and does lovely scones, carrot cake, and various other delicacies that go well with a cup of Earl Grey or cup of Latte.... More

We enjoyed lunch at this cafe on Saturday afternoon last (March 29th) following a recommendation. When we were seated we were immediately brought a jug of water and some wonderful home-made brown bread. The menu was a little unusual, with bone marrow featuring on several items. My husband ordered the mackerel, served with baby potatoes & spinach which was very... More

Had lunch here recently and hadn't been here in a while. The light, art filled, high ceilinged airy room is an ideal lunch spot. The menu is minimal with few choices and seems to have been cleverly designed for maximum profit with minimum cooking and preparation and there is nothing wrong with that. The day I was there I noted wild... More

I've visited this cafe several times for lunch recently. The food is excellent. The menu is quite small and what they do they do well. Mushroom & spinach pancake, fish & chips, a savoury tart, bacon & cabbage were just some of the options available on my most recent visit. There is always a good selection of delicious home made... I ate here yesterday for lunch. All three of us ordered the tart for over €10 each. It was such a rip off. One small, poor quality and soggy slice with some pickled cucumber and a few lettuce leaves. We also ordered a bottle of white wine that came warm. Overall I would not recommend this place. Go elsewhere for... More

Ate here one weekend recently and found it to be an excellent, reasonably-priced spot for a casual lunch. Located right in the city centre on the gallery's ground floor the cafe does a very good lunch menu. I tried the minute steak which Had good flavour and came with some excellent chips and a slightly thick garlic sauce. My dining... More

Used to live near this Café and ate there a lot but moved away a few years ago. Staff seemed to have changed since then but had lunch on a Saturday @ 3 (usually a nice quiet time) and staff were friendly and helpful. We both had the cup of soap with a brown bread, relish, cheese sandwich which was... More

Ate lunch here on Saturday - food was perfectly nice (though the menu was not an interesting as it used to be but that's not a huge criticism) but the way we were rushed out was not particularly pleasant. We each had a coffee before the mean and my wife asked for a refill of coffee after the meal to... More

The cafe is a busy atmospheric gem - more like a small brasserie than a cafe. Charming swift service. All meals were excellent - soup and sandwich were excellent as was the spinach and mushroom crepe and mackerel tart and black pudding salad with caramelised apple. Glass of wine each and lovely Irish bread - everything perfect.

Fascinated by Cork and its citizens, I made space to visit the Crawford Gallery. If I was disappointed by the Irish landscapes on show, I was certainly not by the cafe. I am told that real foodies should head out of town for Ballymaloe House. Some of the staff have been to its famous cookery school, so you may catch... More
