This place is super. The place was busy yet not uncomfortably busy. The setting is lovely and roomy and relaxed and I like how everyone isn't squeezed beside each-other. I had their vegetable soap which was exactly how I like it. Also came with two decent slices of brown bread. My brother had a turkey dinner and was very pleased... More

This place was slammed the night we visited--which it might be all the time. It took ages to place our order, and when it was time to settle the tab, the bar tender disappeared after I asked if we could pay! I finally had to go around to the other side and pay there. However, in defense of the employees,... More

On our second and last night in Cork we had a number of objectives. To watch the World Cup match at 5pm, to enjoy a few drinks in a good atmosphere, to have a fish supper and to hear some live music. Such choices are difficult to make on the internet so we ventured out and happened to walk along... More

Found this pub while wandering around Cork looking for live music. The place was packed but we found a table in the back room to eat and listen to the band. Our waiter was friendly and energetic. Worked his butt off actually. I had the fish and chips which was good - batter light and airy. Band was fantastic -... More

We happened upon this place while visiting Cork. Sat down around 5pm for a bite to eat. Our waiter provided service but wasn't social, not rude or anyting, just not social. Beer was cold and great. I had the fish and chips which wasn't the best I've had but certainly not the worst. Had a blast listening to the live... More

I stayed in Cork last year and had the best Eggs Benedict in the Oliver Plunkett for my breakfast so when me and my husband stayed this year I knew I had to pay a visit. Went on a busy lunchtime and there was a kitchen area serving carvery. Asked a lovely barman about the food as it wasn't clear... More

Hi Ampsabelle, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your visit to the Oliver plunkett, especially as you came in last year and had a good time. Firstly I would like to address the menu. Since your post we reviewed this and we no longer run two menus at lunch time. We are trying to offer a bit of... More

Got a tip from our landlady for this place. Was really disappointed. The table we sat down at (the only one available) hadn't been cleaned. We ended up wiping it ourselves when we eventually got hold of a serviette. My food (fish and chips) was completely tasteless. And my husbands (chicken wings) was dripping in vinegar and tasted dreadful. We... More

While in cork, we were looking for pubs which featured traditional, live music. Oliver Plunkett fit the ticket. There are 2 floors to this establishment, both featuring live music. It appears that they have the tradition music performances at the earlier show, followed by a terrific local band which covered everything from the Doors to Johnny Cash. Food selections are... More

Nice pub located close to city centre offers life music, tasty food and friendly staff. I spent there several evenings with friends and we had a great time. Upstairs there is a whiskey bar and smoking area. Sometimes they do irish dance with life music. Worth of visit.
