Our party of 3 dined here recently. We were not expecting anything special as we had not heard anything about this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of the dishes. the starters of cauliflower and almond soup and the fish balls(cakes) were excellent. the mains of duck confit, place and risotto with al dente veg and... If you're tired of hotel food and want a complete change of atmosphere, go across the street to the Serendipity Cafe. It's quaint and the food is awesome - both in presentation and taste.

Came across this restaurant by chance! Hah hah!! On a Thursday evening there was only one other table occupied. A very pleasant welcome by the waitress - did not need to book. The restaurant is very pretty but in a girlie way. The food was excellent though. Smoked salmon starter was good. The smoked haddock main course and leak sauce... More

My boyfriend and I came here after reading a positive review in the Irish Examiner rating it at 8.5. Having never heard of Cafe Serendipity we came to our trusty Trip Advisor and were curious about the somewhat mixed reviews. We were more than pleasantly surprised, from the initial welcome from the friendly staff to the detailed explanation of the... More

While staying in the River Lee hotel for a few days we opted out of paying for breakfast in the hotel in favour of trying the breakfast in Cafe Serendipity and its definitely a decision we would make again. We had breakfast here over three days and each day it was excellent. The service was very good and the food... More

Serendipity is the name and finding the place while strolling around was also serendipitous! An old house, converted into a cafe/bistro, with seating outside in what was once the front garden. The weather was hot, the food was freshly prepared. We had a lovely salad of goats cheese. Nice place to meet and even have a coffee and cake. Different... More

Was staying in Cork for the night and this place was in walking distance from our B&B. Had read the reviews and thought we'd give it a try. We'd not made a booking and was strolling back to our B&B, and even though our table was booked for later that evening, they let us have it for an hour or... More

We went here on a busy Saturday night, and were attended to immediately. Four of us went for dinner, and none were disappointed. The restaurant catered for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The wine list was short- but very good. My only gripe was a live violin player, while he was a good musician, the music was far too loud... More

Had breakfast here with some friends that had been in before. Food was decent but the selection was very small and the staff seemed bothered, rather than welcoming. We paid around 35-40eur for our family of four. I had heard good things and expected to really like the place, but I can't ay that I'd return.
