Excellent food

In looking at reviews I put on here I wondered whether I was being a bit lenient, not harsh enough. However, I'm not a food critic and preselect the places I go to try and ensure I go to places that appeal with good menus. Alas it is here with Barry's that I have to give a downcast review. Been... Rudest staff ever in Barry's tonight, it's my local when visiting home but will not be back. Note to management less time decorating the windows & more time training staff in the very basics of customer service wouldn't go a miss.

We held our Xmas staff party here on the 13/12/14 and I had to leave a review to say what a fantastic night we had. We were a party of 45 and we were given our own reserved section of the bar. The finger food was delicious, high quality and went down a treat with all our staff. The atmosphere... More

I was part of a large group on our Christmas night out. The management did everything to ensure we had a wonderful night. Lovely food, great service. Bar was open til late which meant we did n't have to change locations after our meal. We all really had a great night.

Frequented this establishment in the heart of Douglas last Saturday night late and was with a group of people. Left the bar to go out side to take a phonecall and while there observed the two doormen on duty at the main door. Their attitude, especially the smaller guy to potential customers was a disgrace. He seemed to be a... More

I hadn't been to Barry's for an evening meal before but will definitely be returning. We were a party of 8 (should have been 9). We had a lovely table, plenty of room. Staff were fantastic. Food was really nice, there was a good range to choose from that suited everyone even those quite fussy. The thing that made the... More

Myself and my wife had lunch here recently. Not sure I like the change of decor - rather lifeless. The main bar of a suburban hotel in the 90's comes to mind. The place seems very dated even though the refurb is only about 2 years old. The meal consisted of a rather bland and overly creamy red curry served... More

I had an early bird dinner with my wife and granddaughter yesterday. Staff were smashing, pleasant and courteous. They didn't have any colouring material for our four year old but they quickly provided a few blank pages and markers which was fine. The food was delicious, I recommend their house special burger- yum! The house merlot was perfect with the... More

I am a regular visitor to Barry's, never had a bad meal, service is terrific, great value, great location, great atmosphere, great venue but just one thing I noted on my last visit... I am currently on well-known weight loss programme and since it was the only option on the menu I could have because the chicken & couscous or... More
