The service and the place are very welcoming. Good options of cakes and coffees/teas. You can sit down looking at the movement of the English Market. Very good!

Staff was very welcoming and kind. We even ordered too much food and had the chance to cancel the extra dishes after we realized we were too full. Price is in the regular Cork range, but portions are more than enough and food is very good (bought from the market downstairs).

Well positioned inside the famous English Market this is a terrific local restaurant using fresh foods from the market. Eat inside or out (book in advance if you want inside). Not just local foods but local recipes. Great buzz and if only for a coffee and cake it should not be missed on a visit to Cork.

After enjoying The English Market, lunch in the Farmhouse Café was a must. Very efficient service and the lamb stew and fish chowder were full of flavour. Great people watching spot on a busy day.

Ate here as a group recently, well what can i say, staff are most likely casuals, id honestly believe the girl we had was on her first day. We had a set fixed price menu with main, dessert & tea/coffees which would ordinarily be ok but many of the choices weren't available and they weren't prepared to substitute off the regular menu... this restaurant is conveniently located in the English Market which is a showcase for quality local produce. This restaurant offers a tasty selection of snacks and meals and a big attraction to and asset for the establishment is the maitre d'hui, Merko who offers a warm welcome and professional service. Anything worth changing: prices are high compared to other restaurants.

This review was for the cafe/coffee area only - the restaurant was fully booked (make sure you get reservations on weekends). It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. The restaurant is above the British Market which gives it charm. The food was good but nothing too special. Would like the try the restaurant the next time we... More

This little restaurant is upstairs above the English Market stalls and features foods directly from the vendors below. Good service, nice array of choices, and beautifully prepared and presented food.Only open for lunch and tea, but not to be missed.

The Farmgate Cafe was just what we needed after a night on the tiles in Cork city! Good, wholesome and hearty grub to keep the hangover at bay... I had the roast lemon and thyme chicken and my partner had the shepherd's pie...Both simple but delicious meals bursting with flavour...even down to the accompanying carrots which were succulent yet so... We love the Farmgate café in Cork's English Market and head straight for it when we visit Cork. The food is excellent, the service efficient and friendly and the atmosphere buzzing. We had a superb meal at lunchtime, returned later for tea and cake, and bought a sandwich to take away.
