Wonderful town & a great restaurant

Stopped in for a business dinner while in Shannon, Ireland for work. The restaurant is attached to a local pub in the middle of the old part of the city. We started the night with a few pints prior to eating out dinner. The Town Hall Cafe has a very clean, upscale feel to it. The menu features... read more

This was our first meal in Ireland and it far exceeded our expectations. I worked 35 years in the Wine/Restaurant business and know commitment when I see it. Our meals were excellent. Wife and I both ordered specials Lamb Shank with a spicy tomato chutney for me, Salmon with basil-tomato-prawn sauce for her! Scalloped potatoes and steamed veggies were served... More

We had reserved for a busy Friday evening. After an initial delay in locating our reservation we were taken to our table. I like the ambience which has the charm of good commercial hotel or club dining room. The staff are tops for service but the kitchen contribution was rather pedestrian, especially on the vegetables. Our first courses were promptly... More

If the food were as good as the menu made it seem, it would merit 4 or 5 stars. My wife liked her lamb shank but I sent back my halibut, totally bland and tasteless. They were gracious, after a wait brought me a chicken stuffed with mushroom that was ok but a bit dry, with a nice sauce. They... More

Given the really good reviews I had read I have to say I was really disappointed. I suppose ordering lamb in an Irish restaurant is probably not a good idea - was completely overdone. Vegetables were tasteless. Nicest thing on my plate were the dauphinois potatoes. Desert was inedible - a creme caramel that tasted of nothing. When I go... More

Dear Guest of our Town Hall, we are sincerely sorry that we did not get to meet you and ensure that you had an enjoyable meal. We are genuinely stunned that anyone would think that Ireland and especially County Clare where lamb roam free over the Burren is not one of the best places in the world to enjoy this... More

This restaurant was recommended by our B & B host. The atmosphere was great f o r dinner. Busy but not too loud for dinner conversation. My daughter and both ordered pork belly starter as our main entree. It was lovely! My husband enjoyed the beef medallions with risotto. A veggie side dish and a scalloped potato side dish was... Quite busy at lunchtime but we got a table without a reservation. The menu is interesting - a little different from the norm. We had what was essentially scampi and chips with a twist but it was very good. Service was quick and friendly.

I always make this one of my first stops in Ennis. Although more of a fine restaurant than 'cafe', the food is predictably fantastic (the chef has a great sense for taste combinations, and ingredients are wonderfully fresh and often local), the service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Great for lunch or dinner. The attached "Poets... More

We went to the Town Hall Cafe for a dinner with a group of friends. The organiser of the event had informed them that we were all vegans, and the chef/s and kitchen team went out of their way preparing an amazing three-course dinner with several choices, original recipes and simply delicious foods. The salad/s were even organic, and the... More
