Frequently described as 'the best restaurant in town', family-run Fern Cottage Restaurant in the heart of Pitlochry is a firm favourite, both for local residents and visitors to Highland Perthshire. Established over a decade ago, and located as close as you can get to the heart of this picturesque Victorian town, Fern Cottage Restaurant offers a warm Highland welcome, truly tasty food and personal service for every customer. Our menus have recently undergone a complete transformation and, with an emphasis on flavour, freshness, and the chef's flights of imagination, there is now more than ever on offer. Retaining much of the original ethos of using Scottish, seasonal ingredients to create dishes with a Mediterranean twist, all our food is cooked to order and guarantees a treat for your taste-buds, whether a classic or a contemporary dish. Fern Cottage is open for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon teas and dinner and, with an extensive choice of menus - a la carte, pre-theatre, seasonal and children's - we offer you something special every time. Head Chef Andy Bain has infused the new menus with his own refreshing brand of zing and, with meticulous attention to detail, has created an exciting new range of dishes packed with flavour and beautifully presented. Whether front of house or 'behind the green baize door', every member of our team is dedicated to ensuring you enjoy your visit, spread the word and come back for more!

great food but uncomfortable seating

The food and service were excellent. However the table were too low. neither my husband or I could fit our legs under the table. we are not huge people but 5'8" and 5'10". Also the chairs were very uncomfortable; very small and only support for the lower back.. I kept moving and repositioning to... read more

After having eaten here on numerous occasions, when we were staying up in Pitlochry for the opening night at the Theatre thought we would treat ourselves to lunch. Very disappointed, where it used to be a very mediteranean menu, it was much more burger, fish and chips and steak pie. Service also quite slow as it didnt look like they... More

We went for a pre-theatre dinner at the restaurant. The staff were friendly and efficient. I am vegetarian and my choices were well thought out and tasty. The restaurant itself is tastefully furnished with good attention to detail

Took my wife here whilst staying at a local castle after being recommended to us. The only way I can describe it is a hidden gem in a touristy area. Highly recommend booking a table if your going to go. The Staff were so polite, friendly and professional. The food was absolutely amazing, of a standard worthy of a top... More

Despite our late arrival after a long drive back from Ben Nevis, the staff were only too happy to set up a table for us i9n this busy restaurant. The service was prompt and friendly, the food first class and reasonably priced. Just the job for four tired and hungry adults after a hard day up the hill!

We both enjoyed our two course dinner here. It is everything you can expect from reading the reviews. Really very good food, though for us nothing really exceptional. Go here if you want good food for an OK price. Do please make a reservation, the place is very busy and many are turned down even in the off season.

This was our third visit to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We booked our table a couple of weeks in advance of our.visit as we knew Saturday nights are usually busy. The menu choices were varied and we could choose from one of two menus. The meal was excellent as always and service was friendly and efficient, despite... More

We arrived early in the evening and were impressed by the atmosphere, choice and food quality. we wanted something simple so chose the prawn cocktail. This turned out to be a cut above the normal and well worth having. The rest of the meal was of a very high quality. The overall price was good and we will return without... More
