Description: Tim & Anna Dover work together at the restaurant, Anna is in charge of table service and Tim exercises his skills as Head Chef in the kitchen, and in his words..."My wife and I opened the Roost Restaurant in the village of Kintillo near Bridge of Earn, just outside Perth, in the summer of 2008. Five years on the restaurant is firmly established in the area and we are known for our extensive use of Scottish ingredients, which I prepare in the classical French style that I have learnt in kitchens at home and abroad throughout my career. We are proud of the strong relationships we have developed with Scottish food and drink suppliers and always produce a locally sourced, sustainable and seasonal menu. Our dedication doesn't end in the kitchen as we enjoy fishing and foraging for our own ingredients - including wild garlic, alexanders and chanterelles - many of which appear on the menus throughout the year. But nothing is more sustainable than our new kitchen garden that features vegetables and herbs used in the restaurant. Throughout the summer months we are able to use our own supply of herbs, salads and vegetables such as potatoes, chard, baby carrots, beetroots, leeks, broad beans and purple sprouting broccoli while flowers are also grown for the restaurant."

We had a family lunch party of 12 here today to celebrate a 90th birthday. We could not be more pleased with the food, the ambiance and the fantastic service. This must be one of the best restaurants in Scotland for imaginative and delicious food with a varied menu that will please even the most discriminating - or picky- eater.... More

We took our mums here today for Mother's Day and the whole experience from the restaurant itself, the service and the food was outstanding! Exceptional value for money. The presentation of the food is fab and we could not fault a single thing about our visit! We will defiantly visit again when we are in the area and would recommend... More

Our second visit to this wonderful restaurant, the food, service and atmosphere are all perfect, a must visit if you are a serious foodie. The menu is small on choice but huge on quality, freshness and taste. We could not find anything that needs or could be improved, the service was perfect and the food absolutely fantastic in both flavour... More

Tim excelled even his very high standards on Friday with an outstanding sweet following a delicious main course, but the conclusion to our visit was an all new selection of petit fours. These were outrageously good and compare with any we have experienced anywhere across the world.

We have been here a couple of times, and our most recent visit was for a weekend dinner. The location of the restaurant is a bit out of the way (its quite a bit out of Perth), but it makes for a quiet spot, and the restaurant itself is very pleasant. Although this is a fine dining establishment the decor... More

Good food well presented although some of the dishes seem overcomplicated. Very expensive compared with similar restaurants in the area.

Tim Dover is one to watch. A seasoned, well trained chef made of Michelin star material. He and his wife Anna have everything right at The Roost: from the seamless front of house, the local artworks on the walls, the spacious simply set tables to the cleverly crafted menus, top notch locally sourced produce, innovative flavour combinations, exquisite cooking and... Oh dear! I hesitate to write a negative review on the week that The Roost was awarded 2 AA rosettes but here goes. Our choice to dine at The Roost was based on our experience last year when we had a delicious meal. The food on this occasion wasn’t bad, just too many elements that needed attention. While the staff... More

This was our first visit here and we were not disappointed. We were early but our table was ready and we enjoyed really super food. My calf's liver was stunning and my wife had the Barbary duck. The deserts were really to die for. It mad our day in the sunshine on the first day of Spring.

We were really looking forward to our trip to this restaurant, mainly due to the incredibly positive reviews on this web site.I have to say, we weren't disappointed and had a really good lunch but would not go so far as to give it 5/5. Full marks for the service: nothing was too much bother and we were very well... More
