Lovely dinner with family

We went here for my Dads Birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The only thing that brought the evening down a bit was that my steak was well done as opposed to the medium I had ordered. Regardless, it was a very tasty meal.

We arrived at 6pm for our reservation. The place was empty but we had to wait 15 minutes to get seated. Our server was an over enthusiastic young man. I ordered the fish which was oaky but for the price it should have been excellent. My poor wife got served the most tasteless piece of lamb we have ever had.... More

They advertise a lunch menu, we booked for lunch, but we were only given the grill menu when we turned up. We asked about the lunch menu that was promised when the booking was made. Waitress shrugged her shoulders and walked off. Food from the limited menu was acceptable, if a bit odd. Chicken liver parfait with sweet ginger bread... More

Bit of a strange review: Here are some facts: 1) We offer a Sunday Lunch menu every Sunday and it is widely advertised within the building and offered to guests. 2) We do not offer a Grill menu, we also offer a Daytime menu and Evening menu. 3) Our daytime menu has 16 options for main courses 4) We have... Food, service and ambience is always to high standard, and for our friends who love trains they were absolutely thrilled when ever one went passed. Not intrusive in any way, just a prompt for us to start to plan a new trip, adding a bonus to lovely occasion.

The starters and desserts were absolutely gorgeous. We all raved about the celeriac, pear and ginger soup - so smooth and creamy. Chocolate dessert with coffee ice cream worked well, though rich, and it was a pleasant change to see such unusual flavours of ice cream offered, such as cinnamon. Although quite imaginative overall there was a rather poor choice... More

We stayed as part of a voucher deal and were very much treated as though we were second rate guests. They highlighted that we were 'Voucher Guests' four times within the first hour of arrival. Despite this the food was very good. After the meal I ordered a double cognac which looked rather small so when ordering a second one... More

I really enjoyed my Chicken Caesar Salad but my husband reckoned this was his best Beefburger EVER (and he is quite an expert!). Staff friendly. We ate on the terrace overlooking the well kept gardens. This was an Itison deal and certainly one that we would take up again.

We were booking a function and rooms, so we stayed for some dinner and had a lovely meal. Menu is compact with around 10-12 each of starters, mains and desserts. The menu features local produce and we had carrot and coriander soup and Dunkeld smoked salmon to start, ribeye steaks for main and these were great, well cooked and accompanied... More
