Recently visited the hotel restaurant for a birthday celebration and would highly recommend it for both the food and atmosphere. We ate off the fixed price lunch menu and while the choice was not vast it made up for it in the taste department. We were fortunate to get the big sofas in front of the open log fire where... More

Very well presented meals that on initial look would appear to be a bit on the meagre side, but surprisingly, at the end of our meal all in the party stated that the quantity was just right. It just proves that looks can be deceiving.

This quite formal restaurant is part of a superb country house hotel and serves excellent food, obviously prepared by highly qualified chefs. The waiting staff are unobtrusive yet attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxing; a surprise, given the dress code. Try the sea bass - it's sublime.

Beautiful surroundings with good food and good service. Value for money could be better though but will be back..

I have stayed at Murrayshall 3 times over a period of four years, with the first two times being excellent! The food was brilliant, service was friendly and the rooms nicely kept. However my most recent visit in October 2013 was well below what I had previously experienced. The food was good (though nowhere near brilliant) the room, was dirty... More

Having recently enjoyed lunch with a voucher in the Old Masters Restaurant, we decided to book for dinner on Hogmanay. The 5 course meal was preceded by champagne & canapés in the lounge bar. Each course was nicely presented & adequate in size for most people. The beef fillet was tender, the sauce tasty, although an extra vegetable alongside the... More

Had the six course taster menu, very good but a bit repetative, two meet courses and two sweet courses, a cheese or sorbet course would have been nice. At this time of year go for lunch so you get the great views. A grand piano in the main restaurant, a Saturday evening and no pianist, a bit of a disappointment.

Held a family celebration lunch recently. The planning help prior to event was 1st rate. The event was superb, food delicious, service efficient. Difficulty was getting our guests to leave, even although the hotel was not indicating it was time to do so. There was a children's menu for our younger guests.

My sister & I lunched today with a voucher and were both more than happy with the deal. A limited menu, but something for everyone and it came roasting hot (and served on very hot plates) and we were very happy with the quality of food. They were not huge helpings which I find rather off putting, just right. The... More
