Food not too bad

We visited this restaurant one very wet night on 12th July as we were on Business in Elgin staying at Premier Inn (sadly, brewer's Fayre closed for evening meals due to some hitch in restaurant) Found the poppadoms not to my liking, too salty! Meal was ok, but can't say I would be in a hurry to... read more

Always enjoy a trip to the Al Bahar. Great menu, with a superb range. Always found the staff warm and welcoming, Buffet night is reasonably priced, just don't go daft with the starters, save some room for your mains :)

Always go for lunch, less than £10 a head, good buffet selection, excellent staff. dishes are always re filled quickly. starters and main courses and rice and nan bread. you can go in and be fed very quickly and food is so tasty. Best curry place i have tried between Inverness and Aberdeen for sure

I go to Al bahar for the lunch time buffet, the food is average. Decent for Elgin High St. lunch time. However, there is one employee who should not be in the service business. Never smiles, not welcoming and watches you closely as you get food from the buffet. As if you're going to put chicken pakoras in your pocket.... More

Ordered a take away by phone. When we arrived, the order had not even been started. Then they tried to overcharge on the bill (how difficult is it to deduct 10% from the total?) The food was poor - popadoms stale, pakoras rubbery, described-as-medium curries were very hot. If we had eaten in, most of it would have been sent... More

Went with 2 friends who had the buffet lunch which they both enjoyed, I chose to have the 3 course business lunch. I declined the starter but chose the rogan josh main. The main arrived on a small side plate and consisted of no more than 2 small spoon fulls of sauce with 4 VERY small pieces of chicken and... More

A sauce that had clearly separated in cooking. When I pointed out there was something not right with the sauce I was assured it was fine. It clearly wasn't. ...the cream had seperated and I was pretty unwell some 4 hours later. To be avoided at all costs.

Very poor. Sauces that seemed to have separated in cooking leaving a stodgy mess that was inedible. I dared to show the chef where the sauces had gone wrong but there was a poor attempt to explain the stodgy lumps with a vague utterance that these were yoghurt based sauces...naaaa I think not. Very, very poor quality. Not to be... More

Had self service lunch with a colleague in this restaurant. The food was as much as you can eat but the range was limited and very average. There were few other diners, but it was early and may have picked up after we left. Staff were pleasant and in the background, but this average lunch was not cheap at a... More

We visited on Boxing Day, so didn't expect the place to be buzzing and it wasn't. The welcome was casual and the dining room was cold, but it looked nice enough. We had poppadums and dips to start. They weren't the best (what IS that luminous green dip?). However, our vegetable curries one Darbari, one Kabuli) were very tasty and... More
