Disappointing and expensive

My wife and I had high expectations of this restaurant which were not wholly met - a rather disappointing experience. We had expected ‘fine dining’ from the menu at the door and the interior decoration emulating the orangery of a country house. However, the service was not exceptional. On two... read more

Our last night In Scotland and we managed to get a table here after a short wait.We chose the sea bass which did not disappoint at all.The food came quickly and the service was good. The house white wine was very good and the Heather beer was nice and cold.

When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy so, thinking this was a good sign, looked forward to our dinner. Unfortunately it wasn't that great. Our table was in an area which I can only describe as reminding me of a cafe in a garden centre. The food was ok, nothing special with quite high prices for such a small... More

We visited it a couple of days ago. We were seated at a very bad place, near to the kitchen door. It was dark, not cosy at all. Interior was a pure kitsch, in such places you can't put cheap plastic chandelier with fake lights. Food was average but we would not pay such price for it again. Actually just... More

When paying £16 for a sirloin steak , I expect it to not be dry and leathery with oven cooked chips!! Had to ask for some kind of sauce to add a bit of moisture....I suspect they had kept food on a warming plate as the main was out straight after the starter....not the best!!

My friend and I grabbed a quick spot of lunch here. It was pleasant and quick. I had a baked potato that came with a good selection of different salad items on the side. It could have done with a bit more filling in the potato but otherwise quite nice. It was also reasonably priced for what it was. The... More

We stumbled across this place, it is just off the main high st in Fort William. Prices were reasonable. Main course was delicious. I had the venison while my companion had the chicken / haggis. Both were served with small portions of veg. My companion had the sticky toffee pudding as dessert, it was a disappointment. The waiter brought it,... More

The food was OK, but no more. Our waitress was strict and harsh, no flexibility no friendliness. The building and location are really nice. Prices are top end, for that I expect much better cooking.

What a shame....we were there tonight. We were really looking forward to a good med/rare steak, unfortunately it was overcooked and completely tasteless. When we mentioned this to (I think it was) the owner his response was a slap on my partners back and a condescending "sorry about that". There was no sincerity and an overall feeling of he couldn't... More

Nicely tucked away off the main street in Fort William, the restaurant look nice from the outside. Once inside, there appeared to be no owner for front of house activities. We were kept waiting a short time before being seated. We also saw other folks walk out later on, not prepared to wait. Food was distinctly average and the pudding... More
