Lovely little restaurant and art gallery. Food was excellent and setting was beautiful. Glad we found it.

The Lime Tree has a lovely location and pleasing décor. They do not seem very well organized though and the food was not exceptional. I wanted to try the West Coast mussels and asked for the main dish size as indicated on the menu. The waitress did not seem to understand what I meant, but finally I did get the... More

Not infrequently I want to award a higher mark than five to an attribute of a restaurant, usually in respect of the food or value for money, but never before have I wanted to score more than five for ambience. The Lime Tree is not only a hotel but also contains an art gallery dominated by the work of owner... More

Last September a group of 10 of us came here, they had a 3 course fixed price menu and it was wonderful - 5 stars. Last week the menu was a la carte, there were 15 of us, many dishes weren't available or only one or two servings available (I had booked this table way in advance); it took over... More

We wondered in on a sunday night but were unable to be seated because the Lime Tree was fully booked, so with a sense of anticipation we booked a table for two for the following evening and we were not disappointed... at the beginning! Beautiful home baked bread and interesting tasty starters washed down with a well chosen Sangiovese; pity... More

We had dinner in this small hotel which also doubles as a small art gallery. We were a little taken aback by the deserted sitting rooms so were pleasantly surprised when we were ushered into a much more modern dining room. We didn't have starters but were given a tasty little mise bouche before enjoying duck a l'orange and beef... More

Booked for dinner on a Tuesday evening in May, not expecting it to be busy. Wow! were we wrong??!! Every table was used at least once with very enthusiastic diners! On arrival it wasn't at all obvious where to go to announce our presence. However, a waitress appeared coincidentally from the lounge and we were shown straight to our table.... More

A very cosy lounge with a roaring fire welcomed us to the lime tree. The dining room was busy, but has an interesting atmosphere due to the artwork on display. Menu choice was good, and we can recommend the haddock souffle starter. Beware the venison roundabout though - it's a large portion and had me beaten! We returned to our... More
