Called in for lunch. Ordered a Ham & Coleslaw salad, when it came there was more orange grated cheese on the plate than anything else. Had to leave most of it. The coffee wasn't up to much. The staff were very friendly.

A wonderful end to my wee break up home after a busy Easter. The food was superb - the chicken was the moistest I've had and the fish and chips went down a storm with my dear old Dad. He loved the beer batter. Then to top it off, some live entertainment. Just lovely. Thoroughly recommend this place.

We first encountered the Tavern on a dismal dreich night, after looking for a decent place to have drinks. With the High Street resembling the set of 28 Days Later, we were glad to find a well lit, comfortable setting with two friendly local bar staff. In the far corner, we were treated to an impromptu Scottish folk band practicing... More

Was in yesterday afternoon for lunch 13th March for lunch and I have to say the service was very good and food very good I was very much appalled at the manageress ( whom I have never encountered on other visits ) attitude to another member of staff, this was obviously embarrassing for us and especially for the person concerned.... Arrived here after a long drive from Midlands and recommended from our B&B.Very friendly and the food was tasty and traditional.Added to that the "beat the clock" pricing made it very good value so I m not sure why some reviewers think it overpriced!!!Not fancy but just what we needed on a cold Feb night after a long drive!!!

The title says it all! I live locally and don't use this restaurant anywhere near as much as I should. Every time I go I ask myself why I don't go more often. My wife treated me to a birthday dinner here on Friday just past. With my birthday being so close to Valentine's Day it can sometimes be a... More

Visited the Tavern on a friday afternoon with my daughter and grand daughter and was made so welcome by Sarah Jane, who kept the little one entertained doing jigsaws with her and then we met Lorna who was just as friendly and helpful, we were so impressed with the menu and the "beat the clock" promotion that we booked for... We have been several times and always enjoyed the meals. The staff are very good and well organized. The lunch deals are very good, but there beat the clock deal is outstanding value and the quality of food is excellent. Also there wine choice is good with a fair price. If in town worth a visit for lunch or an... More
