A hearty local dish

I had the venison pie with potatoes and veg and my husband had steak pie and chips. My meal was excellent with large chunks of lean meat a light and crispy puff pastry topping. My husband said his pie was very good but the chips were a little 'floury' for his taste. Not expensive at all.

Ummed and arred between the lasagne and the fish and chips (which looked amazing). Chose the lasagne, but wish I hadn't. Hardly any meat to be found in it, very stodgy, but very cheesy. Have to be honest, it was pretty awful, and didn't eat it. The salad with it was lovely, and thoroughly enjoyed that part of it. Bit gutted... More

Stopped here for a lunch, with frankly low expectations having suffered hotel food elsewhere. Nothing sensational but a good choice and when our food came it was well presented and tasted fine. The staff were pleasant and I didn't have any problem with the "dated" look mentioned by others but then I can't say I took much notice. Not perhaps... More

The decor is dated, the menu is boring, food is average. We are usually not fussy, but wouldn't go back unless everything else is closed and you just need to fill in your stomach... Not an experience

After searching loads of places to have lunch the 6 of us stopped here. On arrival we were seated in a quiet but quite dated restaurant. We waited about half hour for our starters to come and after that about 20 minutes for our main meal. The foot was edible .......just the best thing on the plate was the chips.... More

All that can be said is that there standard of service was appalling! The actual food was fine, but very much spoilt by the length of time waiting to receive it.

Went for dinner. The steaks were ok but were disappointed that they just came with a Florette (out of a bag) salad and the onion marmalade was far too sweet to be on a steak. And that the chunky chips weren't actually home-made. The staff were all very friendly and helpful when you could get their attention - not their... More

First time back at The Food Stop for quite a few years and very impressed. Good food served promptly by nice staff and reasonable price. We will go back.

Food and service was very good but although we used it 3 times we could have appreciated a menu change. But that apart for a stranger visiting Fort William it gave a very good impression.

Had a good meal over all. Daughter had 2 starters for her meal prawn cocktail and cullen skink, served in the large roll very tasty and a bit different she loved it, platter for 2 is good, good selection could have done with some warm brown crusty bread would have been good. The haggis main was huge and very tasty,... More
