Open since 1995, the simple cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere has allowed The Mustard Seed to become one of Inverness’s favourite restaurants. The Location on the banks of the River Ness in a converted church building is simply stunning and helps create the wonderful ambience. The transformation from disused church to restaurant created a unique space; with a double-height ceiling and magnificent open log fire. Many of the original period features were retained and combined with a mix of natural and modern finishes. The addition of the terrace on the top floor allows alfresco dining and uninterrupted views of the River, another amazing asset for the restaurant.

Great dinner spot

Quick, professional and friendly service along side great food and a capable bar. The setting inside an old church makes for an expansive space that has been transformed to feel warm and rustic. Call ahead! We were lucky enough to get a table at this restaurant and it's definitely popular. They must have turned down 10 tables worth of walk ins in the hour that we were there. Food is spectacular. We had the mussels for a starter and the steak for main. Really well cooked, nice balance and great flavor. The dill/... More

Very nice food, got a booking at 21:30 which is not very common in Scotland :P Helpful staff, good menu, there were so many good options and so difficult to chose just one.

I really enjoyed my meal - tasty, ample portions. It was well executed and flavorful. The staff weren't the best I had encountered, but not the worst. I wouldn't rate the restaurant as terrible, because I didn't get a welcome, like Mike W. The restaurant is quite busy, understandably, so definitely make a reservation - a lot of people were... We ate at the Mustard Seed twice in August. The location was great along the river and across the street from our hotel. We compared the menus of Rocpool and the Kitchen Brasserie which are also within walking distance and liked the choices better at the Mustard Seed. My husband had the lamb shank which was so tender it fell... More

An early evening meal in Inverness at a recommended eaterie. Frankly, the execution of a promising menu was pretty poor. Sea Bass fillets (presumably x2) turned out to be x1 cut in half? The veg side dish wasn't so much 'al dente' as seriously under-cooked. The 'atmosphere' in the mezzanine area was somewhat spoilt by a large braying hen party... More

Myself and two friends dine here once a month, it simply cannot be beaten on location, staff, service and dining. They cannot do enough for you, very attentive staff managed by Matthew, good fun at the same time, locally sourced produce which is very tasty and cooked to order, and great value for money. What more could you ask for?... More

My family eat here regularly and when I visit Scotland we always go for a meal at the mustard seed and it's never disappointing, very reasonable priced and very good meals, very friendly staff. I strongly recommend the mustard seed for a lunch or dinner particularly in summer!
