When we arrived and check in we were extremely hungry and the cab driver had told us about the Castle Tavern. We were not disappointed the food was great and a really personable service.

The Castle Tavern is a nice pub next to Inverness Castle and is a great place to grab dinner. We chose the Tavern specifically because it seemed cheaper than the rest of the city's restaurants which were all quite pricey. Service was with a smile, and great. Couldn't ask for more there! Food was typical pub grub. Very tasty but... More

It was a typical pub with a bar downstairs and the restaurant upstairs. The restaurant is a bit cramped but a nice atmosphere. The food was good but not exceptional. I will say that everything was very reasonably priced especially for the amounts that you get. The bar is small as well but has a pretty little patio attached to... More

We had lunch at Castle Tavern on the 31st December. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good and the portions were enormous. the cider on tap was one of the best I have tried.

This is a very friendly and buzzy little pub in a great position opposite Inverness Castle and above the river. There's an outside terrace with tables and chairs (and patio heaters for colder evenings). Inside there's a very cosy and atmospheric downstairs bar, with an excellent selection of well kept real ales, and wide choice of whiskies. They serve very... More

Visited with 3 friends and we were able to take a seat in the bar downstairs straight away. Our drinks and food orders were taken from our table, which was a very pleasant surprise. The service was friendly. The food arrived quickly and was excellent quality. I had a lamb steak from the specials board and it was perfect. Will... More

I like a real ale pub and the ale here is fine but the staff are a bit talk amongst themselves and as a customer and outsider you feel you have wandered into a joke and missed it
