What a great tavern , with views over the River Ness, whether it be a quiet lunch in the bar or an evening meal upstairs , a wide range of Beers, Whiskies and Home made meals can be had , along with a friendly welcome from staff and locals alike

The restaurant is on the first floor and quite cosy, we hadnt booked but managed to get a table for 4. We had the macaroni cheese, scampi and the haggis meals..all served in good time and we were all enjoyed them. The gentleman behind the bar served the drinks and meals and was very friendly and polite and we were... More

Having not booked far enough in advance, we were delighted to get a table for 4 on Valentine's night at the Castle Tavern! The downstairs bar and the outside seating area are very welcoming. Our table was in the restaurant upstairs, which I found to be a little cramped and maybe in need of a revamp, however, we were there... More

We've been to Inverness a couple of times now and we always make time to visit the Castle Tavern. My husband likes the fact you can get "taster" pints of beer here. Have yet to try the food but hoping to sample this on our return in March.

Had a drink here a couple of times, nice, small quirky bar and the outside seating area looks up to the castle. Good wine and beer, we didn't eat here but from what we saw the food looked good and has an extensive pub food menu. We would definitely go back for a drink next time we are in the... More

We stumbled upon the Castle tavern whilst exploring Inverness and stopped in for a drink. The ambiance & menu appealed, so we made a booking for later that night to come back for dinner. The food was tasty, varied and well-prepared, the staff friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks on offer and we had a really enjoyable... More

A chilly evening in Inverness, a brisk walk to the city centre from just out of town and a search for some warmth and welcome was achieved in the Castle Tavern overlooking the famous pink edifice dominating the city and the River Ness reflecting the lights in the bare tress along its bank. The welcome was sincere and inviting -... More

I have been hearing great reviews about this place for years. However, for some reason, I had never managed to get in to try the food. Decided to bite the bullet, when a friend came up to visit the area. We had gammon steak and angus burger. Both were excellent, and the chips were to die for. Food was very... More
