On our way to a restaurant with a similar name, we ended up here due to a detour. We did not regret this for one single moment. We had a superb meal in this restaurant last Thursday. It is essential to make a reservation as we saw many people unable to get a table. There is a problem with the seating in this restaurant as the tables are far too close together and in our opinion a couple of tables should be removed altogether. It is cramped... More

Lots of fresh fish to choose from (but there are meat choices on the menu as well), and the chef (owner?) was happy to come to our table to describe to us varieties of fish we were unfamiliar with. Lovely food, pleasant atmosphere, helpful friendly staff - what more could you ask for!

Food and service were great. Would highly recommend this restaurant. We visited the restaurant Easter Sunday. The chef had a special menu that day. We had a great scallop appetizer and we each had the steak special. Only downside was the coffee after the meal. Order tea instead!

Good place for foodies, definitely leave room for dessert. I went with the Rib Eye, as part of a quest to find a steak in the UK that is better than a $9.95 sirloin in the US. Mission accomplished. Nice ambiance, great preparation, good view of river. Conversational noise level is perfect.

Inverness was busy at the weekend due to a big cycle race on Sunday and we hadn't booked any restaurant. Stumbled across this one, got lucky with a table and glad we did. The food was superb, great wine list and, for the excellent quality, very reasonably priced. The chef came out to meet all diners to ask for feedback... More

My husband booked this restaurant for my birthday based on the excellent reviews on tripadvisor. We both had an amazing meal - (I had scallops in a gorgeous tomato/basil type jus, followed by sea bass on shellfish risotto, and to finish a lovely passion fruit crème brulee....even got a round of happy birthday sung to me and a glass of... I am tempted not to write a review for River House as I don't want to be in a position that I cannot book a table next time I want to go. Its delicious and the staff are really welcoming.
