The soup says it all.

Ate here for lunch. It was busy with predominantly an older clientele but looked promising. The leak and potato soup was disgusting - a basic cook could have made better the pate starter was ok but the cold dried toast was not the best accompaniment and grated carrot added nothing to this starter... read more

We wanted a predinner drink with intention of looking at the menu prior to having a meal. I had to pay for drinks each time I ordered despite wanting to go into the dining area which was under the control of the staff as it was the same room. A tab would have helped. Todd was OK but not fantastic.

We stayed at the Royal Highland Hotel and ate at Ash. We found the food to be quite good, prices about average for the U.K. It was however very cramped, but that also seems to be about the same as a lot of places in the U.K. The staff were polite, but not overly friendly, although that could have been... We had booked a table in advance, turned up and they did not have a record of our reservation. They managed to fit us in anyways. I ordered sweet chilli chicken skewers for starter, which were actually really nice. For main course, I had a steak, which was very fatty and of poor quality, with onion rings that had been... More

Following a delayed flight, we ended up here for a lateish dinner. We love Inverness but all of the usual places we'd go were full with holiday crowds. So the decor is very 90s, the service underwhelming, and the food expensive and disappointing. Garlic bread arrived cold (then burned). We ended up just rejecting it. The chips were frozen from... I have never complained about a meal once before. However, I ordered a toasted mozzarella, pesto and tomato sandwich. There was genuinely no flavour and it was soaked in water. I complained to the waiter and the response I got was 'Aw, I'll kill the chef' and he never returned or asked if I would like something else. Ridiculous service.

The service during lunch was awful, waiters barely smiled or made any eye contact. Food was terrible, ordered a 'toasted' panini which came barely even warm, never mind toasted. The bun was soft and chewy. At the end of the meal I made the waiter aware that the panini was not properly toasted and she just said that there is... More

Ate in the restaurant two evenings running. The food was excellent. There was an extremely varied menu and the presentation was unbelievable

We had dinner there on our first night. Value for money and more than enough of the plate. It is a busy place so advisable to book.

Ate in here with the good lady, choice of food, service etc was good, my wife was sat at the window side of the table and it was draughty, the two diners adjacent to her also mentioned the draught, my wife didn't think it was draughty enough to merit a complaint (neither did the other two diners). We both enjoyed... More
