I feel sorry for the front of house staff in the Ash who were both courteous and clearly well used to complaints about the terrible food. If you're planning to go there make sure it's beer only!

Stunningly bad service from the barman right the way through to the 'manager'. Our food arrived far too quickly to be fresh. The atmosphere is non existent. The staff all seemed to be on edge and stressed out, with the manager shouting orders across the room in a non friendly tone. One of two dishes we ordered was wrong. We... More

I asked for two starters instead of a starter and a main course, as the risotto on the starter menu was gluten free, whereas the risotto on the main course menu was not (they were unable to tell me what gluten contaning ingredients were included). Apparently, you can't have two starters without paying the cost of an extra course (it... More

Very haphazard service and the food is nothing special. Lots of pre-pared food or taken from the freezer. Reduce your menu and only serve fresh food, would be my advice...

The only thing that puzzled/ bothered me, was the fact that, when we first came in, we were completely ignored when we sat in what I guess you'd call the 'drinks' area, where customers were just having teas, coffees, and beers; we then just sat ourselves in the restaurant, and were attended to immediately. However, from then, the food was... More

My partner and I bought the two course lunch deal, which overall was nice. The haggis was particularly good! However the service here was extremely poor and uncomfortable at times. I was facing the bar so could see the staff quite easily. The restaurant was quite quiet, however the waitresses were stood at the bar, looking glum and staring at... More

Went at my mums recommendations, would never go again! Food arrived too quickly to be fresh and my plate was lifted from me before I had even finished~asked if we wanted dessert whilst still chewing main! When looking at the menu, it was snatched out of my hand when I declined dessert! £35 for two mains and two soft drinks,... More

We were staying at the hotel and decided to eat close by. Big mistake, I have never eaten such poor quality food ever . Every thing was sickly and tasteless, the chicken Balmoral was served with single cream. Why?! I had the lamb shank which was mostly shank and no lamb. Best advice stay away. I could cook better rubbish... More
