Very nearly drove by, so glad we didn't. Inside is basic but cosy, and you are made to feel very welcome. The food however is far from basic, the three of us all had the 'beef and yorkshire pudding'. I asked what the beef was like, Gus's reply was that "I wouldn't need a steak knife". How right he was,... More

A lovely little place that the wife and I could have quite easily overlooked had it not been recommended by a colleague. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was quite cosy. The owner Gus is very friendly and treats his customers in a very familiar mannar, as if he's known you for years, which for me was a nice... More

By far the best eating experience in the highlands of Scotland. A really wonderful, homely feel. The food was simply outstanding.

We drove past this place and didn't think much of it from the outside. A friend recommended trying it and we are glad we did. On entering it is quite quirky (almost random) in its decor but this just adds to the experience. It partly felt you were entering someone's home. The food was excellent. I had the steak which... Excellent menu, and the food ordered was really very very good. Nice relaxed atmosphere, and although it is not licensed, you can take your own drinks, with no corkage charge. Booking recommended, as it was really busy.

Had a meal here on our last night of a boat hire week with Caley Cruisers. It's quirky, as is Gus, and the food was superb. First time I've managed three courses in years. The portion sizes were perfect. I can't really fault the Oakwood. For the few negative comments, this isn't the place for you. We loved it, simple... More

My wife and I popped in on our boat trip along the Great Glen and really didn't know what to expect. But what a surprise. The menu was extremely tempting with many innovative combinations of local produce. I had Roasted Leg of Lamb cooked with onion, garlic, lemon and field mushrooms and my wife took fresh salmon from Loch Duart... More
