Good things come in small packages

If you need more evidence that the best things often come in small packages, visit the Oakwood Restaurant. The fly-leaf of the menu emphasises that the Oakwood specialises in local, in-season produce, down to stating the individual suppliers. The menu itself I would describe as concise, not... read more

A strange mix between a restaurant and a gift shop. The service and food were acceptable but not startling. It seemed that the place did not have direction and service was on our visit not up to the reviews I had read.

Oakwood restaurant is not just a restaurant is an experience through Scottish food tradition. This place shouldn't be approach as a place where you can ask what you want because you are paying for it. At the Oakwood you should taste the magic of local produce admiring how a small family business can defend local traditions in a world of... More

Well I'd been harping on about trying this place for ages but couldn't find a man to take me so settled for a family meal. By god it was worth the wait. I can't wait to go back already. Gus is a superstar! I'm guessing Gaby is Head Chef and her meal was outstanding.. I managed all 3 courses out... More

The place is as humble as it can be, and you are served by the owner and your food will be prepared from his wife. I had an entry of wild mushrooms, a leg of lamb as a main course and the traditional Scottish desert as said on he menu, but the creme brûlée with whisky is also amazing good.... More

The most amazing place I have ever been. The food was all homemade and prepared by the owners. The tips for the place are leg of lamb roasted with lemon and the Orkney Aberdeen Angus sirloin steak. Don't forget to ask Mr. Clint Eastwood, AKA, the owner. Great person.

We visited for a late sunday lunch last week, normally very busy so I'd recommend booking but we got a table no problem. A Portuguese group were just leaving, having booked before travelling to Scotland due to the excellent reviews! I can very highly recommend this restaurant, the food is high quality and you get properly fed, no namby pamby... More

Very relaxed and casual no-nonsense approach to very good food. A very good varied menu to give something for everyone. Also very cheap for the quality, we had a three course meal for two for around £50 including some reasonably extravagant dishes. There's no license so BYOB with no corkage charge.

This was our first visit to Oakwood--certainly will not be our last. The ambience, service and quality of food served made this a meal to remember. We have frequently dined in other eateries in the Inverness area but this by far surpassed anything we have encountered. The best use is made of local produce---cooked and presented in an elegant but unpretentious...
