We chose the restaurant fairly randomly - we arrived late at a nearby hotel. The lasagne with wild boar meatballs was one of the best dishes I've eaten in an "Italian" restaurant for a very long time - the sauce had a deep intense flavour I can still taste in my mind three days later. I want the recipe!

By chance we were a walk in on a Friday evening, luckily they had a vacant table for us. Prompt waiter service, extensive wine and beer menu and a good selection of foods to enjoy. I had the veal with a wonderful pasta and my wife had polo fungi. Quick service and the quality of the food was excellent. They... More

We found the Riva while walking in Inverness, and were glad we chose it. Very friendly staff, comfortable seating, a good choice of food items at reasonable prices and a good wine list. The food was excellent and a dinner for two with wine for 36 Pounds is a pretty good value.

Nice starter but was persuaded to try a fish & pasta combination for my main course I would not normally have tried - not wild about tomato with salmon. However it was excellent & would eat again. Thanks to the waiting staff.

This is my fourth visit this month! The food is delicious. The vegetarian pizza tastes great! And the service was friendly as always!

Riva Pizzeria is upstairs through a separate entrance from the main restaurant. Great river and castle view. Bustling atmosphere, attentive, friendly staff and the BEST pasta sauces I have tasted. I had the meatballs with tagliatelle and my friend the vegetarian penne and we both agreed that the sauce was outstanding. Fresh tasting with cherry tomatoes and al dente vegetables,... More

I was in Inverness on a business trip and went to the Riva restaurant as an alternative to the hotel. It is in a great location, alongside the River Ness, though you may need to be on your guard in case Nessie feels a little peckish.... I went to the Pizzeria, which upstairs from the main resto. It is a... More

After an initial mix up on starters (which was quickly resolved) the food and service was good. This the third time we have visited in the last 18 months and again cannot find a great deal to complain about. We requested one main to be altered from the description on the menu, the chef was more than happy to do... More

Visited for pre theatre meal and was disappointed with standard.of meal.Venison sausages were overcooked and tomato soup with Parmesan was essentially tomatoes processed in a blender. My wives starter portion was very small and her pasta mediocre.I am in no hurry to return.

We have visited this place twice now, the first time two years ago and were not disappointed the second time round. We found the food delicious with very large good value portions (too large for me infact). Certainly a cut above your average Italian restaurant. I hope it remains so as we will hopefully be visiting again.
