Great food at good prices

Wrong meal, wrong change, very loud, all was put right except the volume, definitely a young persons pub, a mistake really on our part. But barmaid had a chip on her shoulder, manager was more friendly.

Good pub for real ale and a great view over the Cairngorms. The pub is a few minutes' walk from the train station and also has a large car park.

don't let the appearance of this place from the outside , inside it's an oasis of wood and real ales (good selection 5 from the highlands ) burgers were juicy and the chips crunchy and delicious reasonably priced and friendly staff

Went in to eat on the recommendation of the lady at the guesthouse I was staying at in Aviemore. As a single person walking into a pub can be a little intimidating, but it was relaxed and wellcoming from the off. I chose to have two starters, pate followed by Brie, really well presented and very tasty. As they had... More

First visit there at lunchtime since the Winking Owl changed Management. My friend had Cullen Skink which was very nice. I had a lunchtime Mac Cheese in a mug which was also very tasty. Looking forward to returning to sample the evening menu.

Popped in for early evening drink & had a couple of cocktails. Nice place under new management. Had heard the food wasn't great so didn't eat there but looking at what went out I might give it a try if I'm visiting Aviemore again. Staff were friendly & attentive taking time over the cocktails. Bright & cheery but plainly decorated... More

My previous review was less than complimentary but we thought we would give it another go and we were not disappointed. Excellent beers, food and service. Well worth a visit.

We got recommended to come here for a drink as it has just been refurbished and once we ordered we thought about having a light bite. The pate was delicious and my partners soup was so tasteful. We enjoyed it so much we couldn't resist the desert menu. You could see the cairngorm mountains & the music was lively. Our... More

We stumbled upon the Winking Owl on our skiing trip to the Caingorms. It was the best lunch of our holiday. The good was out of this world, staff were excellent and the views of the mountains truly stunning. Did I mention how amazing the food was??? If you are in Aviemore you really can't miss a visit to them.... More
