We use some of Scotland's best local produce to create healthy, wholesome & interesting food with a Kiwi twist. We opened our doors in 2004 and have been gaining awards and accolades for our antipodean style coffees, delicious breakfasts, superb lunches & fresh home baking ever since. Our service is friendly & casual with a professional team from all over the world. The café offers excellent views of the Cairngorm Mountains - enjoy our balcony area during summer and the cosy log burner to sit by during the winter months. Best cake ever!

Every time I am in Aviemore I have to stop by this wee place. Great food - amazing salads and dressings and the cakes and tray bakes are to die for. Even the tea tastes amazing! Just a shame it's not bigger to avoid the inevitable wait for a table. Try a late lunch at 1.45/2 to stand a chance... read more

We arrived at 3.30pm on a Saturday afternoon and waited on the stairs patiently. We knew that was the gig here. After about 10 mins a few couples left so around 3 couples were escorted to tables as were we and from that moment on there was nobody else queuing on the stairs and the cafe really quietened. We scanned... More

Can't fault the coffee and cake, or the location on the balcony on a warm day. Service however was lacklustre on this occasion, slow and offhand. And no wifi, which is poor especially on a solo visit

Discovered this place in 2012, have been back at least 15 times since then, even driving the hour and a half to Aviemore just for breakfast one December day. Love the food, sometimes hate the wait for a table but it's worth it, every time.

We visited the Mountain Cafe multiple times during the Gentlemen of the Road stopover festival in Aviemore. Several people in our group had dietary restrictions and were so excited for the variety of GF/allergen free options. All of the food was amazing and service was quick and cheerful despite the huge, muddy crowds coming up from the festival. Due to... More

We last visited the Moutain Cafe 10 years ago and it's changed a lot since then. The food's lovely and portions are generous - plus they accommodate gluten free requirements in a lot of their dishes, which was great for me. There were several new staff members being trained and I think that might have been why service was slow... More

Fantastic views whilst eating amazing food, recommend the sandwiches and cakes. A fantastic choice of mouth watering products and you can take away. Highly recommend the red velvet cake. Always busy but quick service so well worth queuing.

After an afternoon cycling up and down the cairngorm mountain we had worked up quite an appetite. The mountain cafe provided the perfect place for us to regain some energy whilst looking across to the view of the very mountain we'd cycled. The cafe closes at 5.30 but we managed to get there for 4.30 and were still served a... More

We enjoyed the most stylish cappuccinos ever in this cafe. The cafe is incredibly popular and hence service was a little slow, but wealth worth the wait.
