Description: We use some of Scotland's best local produce to create healthy, wholesome & interesting food with a Kiwi twist. We opened our doors in 2004 and have been gaining awards and accolades for our antipodean style coffees, delicious breakfasts, superb lunches & fresh home baking ever since. Our service is friendly & casual with a professional team from all over the world. The café offers excellent views of the Cairngorm Mountains - enjoy our balcony area during summer and the cosy log burner to sit by during the winter months. All the pictures are of our food - why not come in and sample our hospitality when you are in the area next?

The fact that people queue right down the stairs when the cafe is busy is testament to how popular this place is. If you can arrive outwith the peak times, you can usually get a table without too long a wait but turn up on a weekend at midday and you should expect a bit of a delay for a... More

My Girlfriend and I live locally and regularly like to come here for some food or coffee at the weekend, it's personally one of the highlights of my weekend. I usually come here to have breakfast on a Sunday, always choosing the full cooked breakfast which is served up with some thought and care, not just fried and thrown on... More

It's the cosiness that prepares you before the Speyside way or nourishes you afterwards, the clear (or misty) view, the scrumy cakes, the friendly hospitality, the freshness of the surroundings, the hot guy who smiled at me whilst waiting for my coffee. This area is greatly under-rated and I am still thinking about my one and only visit to this... More

When I reviewed the Mountain Café in February this year, commenting on the terrible service, the owner immediately posted her regrets at my experience and noted that my feedback would be discussed with the staff and improvements delivered. I have since visited twice more and whilst the food is still excellent, the service remains the big let down here. We... More

Don't usually write reviews but had to write this after our visit to the cafe today. I had a goats cheese salad and my friend had an Asian chicken salad. Both were amazing, such good quality and value. All the staff were so friendly and efficient an welcoming. We enjoyed our meal so much we stayed for coffee and cake,... More

After we heard mountain cafe in aviemore won the best cafe in scotland award for this year we decided to head down to see what the fuss was about - did not disappoint! There was a wait for a table but we did not mind waiting as this can't be helped - sign of a good thing! The waitresses are... More

We have eaten here on numerous occasions and it never disappoints, it continues to provide excellent food with a good choice of produce. On our last visit we had Cullen Skink served with home made cheese scones, absolutely delicious, I cannot wait to go back. This cafe also provides the most amazing home baking, it is little wonder that it... More

I've been to the Mountain Cafe with my friend several times when visiting the area. The food is delicious and there's a good selection. The cakes in particular are impressive, and they make the best coffee around. We try to avoid the busiest times but have waited aaages before.

We call in here every November on our way home from Nairn to Yorkshire. The menu is varied and good quality. We have had non of the waiting problems that seem to upset other reviewers, but we always have lunch early and never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes. Food was well worth the wait. Whilst the staff are... More
