This weekend was our annual trip to aviemore to participate in the siberian husky club of great Britain sled dog race. We always make a couple of trips to the mountain cafe ( the cake is very popular with us husky racers). Last year i posted here that i was very disappointed with the service. Pleased to say i was... Visited the Mountain Cafe on Friday 23/1/15 after hearing good reports. We waited 20 mins to get a table for 2. Then over 30 mins for 2 bowls of very overpriced soup. Overall - very disorganised, poor service and not worth a visit. Would not recommend.

The mountain cafe has fantastic food and great views, it is always busy so best to go early. We went for breakfast and left 1.5 hours later almost being charged for a second coffee we gave up waiting for. Someone needs to sort out the service as there seemed to be plenty of staff on. I suggest one person sticks... More

Had the most fantastic soup on a cold January afternoon. The service is good but the food is the real winner. Piping hot, wholesome soup with lovely fresh bread. We took some cakes home for later and these were fantastic. Well worth a visit and if you get your timing right you might not have to queue for too long.... More

A group of us visited on Saturday afternoon and yes we had to queue as others have warned, but it was worth the wait. Chocolate gateau was superb as were other cakes and drinks consumed. Service was great too and even though there were 9 of us they were able to put us together. Thoroughly recommended.

The scones are delightful - great consistency, full of flavour and washed down with chai latte - most excellent

This cafe, above an outdoor pursuits shop, must surely have the best buns and cakes in Aviemore. I visited for lunch was was amazed to see what was on offer. The lunch menu provided a reasonable choice although the specials board didn't seem to offer much by way of lunch courses. I opted for a chicken and Brie panini which... More

While in Aviemore we had heard good stories about his cafe and decided to head for breakfast on our last day. The queue was over 45 mins long and they did not sit people in group size, there was a group of 10 infront of us and we had to wait until they were seated before we could be, which... More

We come here a couple of times year on our annual visit to Aviemore. Really love this place, the breakfasts are excellent, the service is effortlessly brilliant. The counter full of cakes are just too tempting, delicious!! We've never needed to wait, usually as we're first in, but it would be worth the wait.

My mum was so excited for us to eat here, "It's won many awards". She prepared me for a long wait for a table, but ensured us that it was well worth it. We waited....and waited.....and got a table, then waited.....and waited.....and waited.....to order. I got a toasty with basil and buffalo mozzarella...it was okay, nothing special. Then we waited...
