We use some of Scotland's best local produce to create healthy, wholesome & interesting food with a Kiwi twist. We opened our doors in 2004 and have been gaining awards and accolades for our antipodean style coffees, delicious breakfasts, superb lunches & fresh home baking ever since. Our service is friendly & casual with a professional team from all over the world. The café offers excellent views of the Cairngorm Mountains - enjoy our balcony area during summer and the cosy log burner to sit by during the winter months. All the pictures are of our food - why not come in and sample our hospitality when you are in the area next?

A lovely surprise in Aviemore

We arrived in Aviemore on Friday afternoon, for a long weekend of skiing. With little choice on offer, we decided to have lunch at The Mountain Cafe as the queue was down the stairs - we took that as a good sign! Visited twice in the week I was in aviemore. Great breakfasts. Can be a que and a wait for food as it's busy and the food is all freshly made. Well worth it though. A little expensive but the portions are a quite big so there's decent value for money.

Stopped off here earlier today for a drink and food to get out of the cold. The building interior was certainly warmer than the staff, who seemed to dart around without doing very much work, even disputing the amount of staff that should have been working, not very professional in earshot of customers. If the staff who were working were... More

We settled on the Mountain Cafe after trolling up and down Aviemore High Street looking for a nice place to have lunch. Be warned this cafe gets busy during busy periods and you will need to queue. But its worth the wait. Good food, nice coffee and cakes, friendly service and its probably the only cafe? with a great view... More

The food was very tasty and the coffee was excellent, big portions with a great choice of cakes. We would definitely return on our next visit.

A good cup of coffee and a nice bacon roll. Early enough to avoid later queues. Service isn't quick but acceptable. Would definitely return as an appealing quality stop-off on the way south or north on the A9.

We had to queue on the stairs for approx 20mins even at 2.30pm, but it was worth it. We had a window table so lovely view of the mountains. The food and coffee was excellent, big portions and very tasty, great choice of cakes and if you can't finish it off you can always take it home :) The service... More

By far the best coffee in this region, the food is consistently of good quality and service always pleasant. The fact that there is normally a queue on the stairs is sufficient recommendation.

As many others have noted, you may have to wait, and even once we were sat down things seemed to move pretty slowly. However the food is excellent and well worth the wait.
