in that I still haven't found what I'm looking for ... or at least a decent chippy in Aviemore by northern standards. Second visit here in 3 years and nothing has changed. Easy on the road parking on the outskirts of Aviemore on the road south. You can eat in the sizeable sitting area or take it out. The prices... More

After a long drive in bad weather, we were hungry and found this place. When we were there, suddenly my son wasn't feeling good and throw up on the carpet. The staff was helping me and when she was going to clean the mess, there was a guy (might be the owner), came and passed the bucket full of water... More

After a refreshing day in the hills, sometimes nothing else will satisfy but a good traditional fish tea. It almost seems like the Harkai family have run this establishment since the end of rationing. Anyway, it is another "must visit" in Aviemore. I try to have one Harkai fish tea once a year whether I need it or not -... More

Decided to have a carry out and watch a movie. We ordered 2 haddock and chips and one small portion for a child. The bigger suppers were good...nice fish and crispy chips. The fish bites were not at all good. Rubbery fish in a soggy batter. Not the usual standard of the Happy Haggis and expensive.

After a long drive up to Aviemore in wild, stormy weather we were ravenous and in need of comfort food. We ordered 4 takeaway portions of fish & chips and it was about a 10 minute wait - but SO worth it. The fish was cooked to perfection with delicious crispy batter which was the star of the show. The... More

My girlfriend raves about this place and has visited it a few times on family trips up North. So, when we stayed in Aviemore this year this was our first point for dinner, after a long day out walking and exploring, and it did not disappoint! Delicious fish and chips which lived up to her hype!

Been here twice in the last week, each time after a torrid day being blasted by wind and snow up in the Cairngorms. Both times, food absolutely outstanding. Honestly, the beat chipper in Scotland. Keep up the good work. I'll be back to check on you!

even if we are just passing through Aviemore/A9 area, we go and give the Happy Haggis our custom. We've done so for over ten years. Family run, amazing chippy - huge choice, healthy fish and chips (i.e. not soggy or dripping in oil) - if you choose to sit in there's a great family deal for 2 adults and 2... More

Family of 5, 2 adults & 3 kids have just been for lunch. Initial impressions were that the menu was expensive - £6.95 for a small fish supper (no false advertising there as had to struggle to find the fish in the batter!) and £8.95 for homemade steak pie which was steak in gravy with pastry cooked separately which came...
