Transport cafe food and service but it does have great views

The café gets lots of traffic from skiers, walkers and tourists who take the funicular but it's a bit shabby even so. I had a coffee in a cup that was heavily stained, the tables had not been wiped down properly and the floor was strewn with crumbs and other debris from the previous day (or week... read more

Hot spiced mulled wine & hot chocolate with marshmallows and skooshy cream. The restaurant was very busy around 12pm with skiers coming in for a heat and warm food. Tables are at a premium and geared more towards a quick dining experience for the skiers than a relaxing restaurant for visitors. The service is lacking, ran out of napkins and... More

The views are staggering from Ptarmigan, there is a special viewing area, however the food is not as good as the restaurant at the car park.

A very unremarkable self-service cafeteria offering a limited range of hot food served from hot plates rather than freshly cooked, plus the usual cakes and buns, teas and coffees and soft drinks. I did however offer a warm haven from the minus 22 degrees Celsius outside air temperature, as well as some superb views down into the Spey Valley and... More

I spent a lot of time on the mountains as a youth and decided to take my new wife. This place is a gem. Good prices not pricey to go up on the funicular railway and when you get there you get the view all the way to Inverness! What a place, just watch the skiers if you go out... More

We visited the Ptarmigan restaurant on top of the Cairngorms which is the UK’s highest restaurant, but it is more like a cafeteria. Although we did not eat we had warm drinks – coffee and the hot chocolate which I can recommend, was delicious. The older staff member who took our money never said one word to us, we might... More

Admittedly we came here during Feb half term so it was bound to be busy but it was a bit ridiculous. Picked my son up from ski school just outside at 12. Cued for 45 minutes to get food that was like a Luke warm school dinner yet cost £8 per dish and then my 5 year old and I... More

It's a great feature to have at the top of the mountain for visitors or snow sports enthusiasts fancying a bite to eat or drink. I love the soups very warming when temperatures are sometimes -15! I usually have a glass of white wine too. Fantastic views & good atmosphere

Please get more seating in the Ptarmigan or open up the mid station café again as the seating is not sufficient for the people on the hill!!!! Also what has happened with the food?? It was awful! the soup was vile and the chips were cold and limp. The standard I would have expected sadly lacked!
