Go only for the views, not the food - this is a self-service restaurant with limited choice

You would only visit here as part of the Cairngorm mountain experience after travelling up on the funicular railway. Let's be honest - this is a self-service cafeteria with very basic, limited food of a standard akin to a poor motorway service area. We are a captive audience, of course, and the... read more

The best mushroom soup ever. Helpful staff, loads of people but quick service, good chilli and Mac cheese. Well worth the trip up the hill

This restaurant is in a spectacular location with amazing views, but completely let down by poor quality, expensive food and unfriendly staff. It is not difficult to serve up basic, tasty, good quality meals but this place does not manage it. The staff could do with a lesson in customer service, just a smile might help. We warned other customers... More

The views from the windows are fantastic and there is also access to the outside terrace, which my son in law used to get some great photos. The "cowards" in the rest of the party stayed indoors! It is a large cafe and typical of a ski-ing eaterie! It's a bit windy near the door which is only to be... More

Very good value for a restaurant at a tourist attraction.. Chicken wrapped in bacon with chips and peas under £9 and was very tasty. There was a varied menu ranging from snacks to full meals. Like many places of this type it is self service and a bit basic. There are excellent views from the windows and access to the... More

Great views at the top of Cairngorm on a cold day so decided to have lunch in the restaurant. Fresh cooked to order fish and chips were lovely, goulash was hot, tasty although a tad underseasoned and served with rice or chips and very surprisingly a huge portion of puff pastry!! Down side of the meal were the sausages in... More

Visited with family. Had great expectations of having a lovely lunch with lovely views..........didn't happen unfortunately. Food was pretty hum-drum. Similar to canteen style. We ended up opting for the soup and sharing sandwiches. Large queues which took an age to move......wasn't cheap either. The seating area was not what I expected at all! The biggest asset the restaurant has... More

Great views from top of Cairngorms. Food was good, but no special food for children, only small portions of what is on the menu. Sandwich fillings not really suitable for children and packs too big for children. Quite surprised as there are a lot of children visit this attraction, there is not a choice of eating places, so parents don't... More

Clearly "tourist' prices for the food. So gave the main courses a miss. Staff nice enough. Did go for the Chocolate mountain £4 and an empire biscuit. Was actually a very good biscuit and the OTT chocolate drink was just what I needed. Daughter and boyfriend went for a shared baked tattie.

Visited today. It's quite expensive so fine for a cuppa but wouldn't have a lunch here. It's more of a cafe than a restaurant but does the job.
