Self service with hot food furthest from check out then you have to wait quite a while to be served with tea/coffee so possibility of food getting cold when cafe is busy. Tasty soup and reasonably priced given location. Obviously the views are spectacular and the best thing about the restaurant. Tables were cleared quickly and there was a microwave... More

This is the highest restaurant in the uk ak at 1039m above sea level. The catering is essential cafe dinning which is nit to expensive considering it has to be delivered up a mountain. Views are spectacular. The tables were cleared and cleaned as they were vacated which is good. Food was cool due to the queuing and slow till... More

After taking the expensive funicular railway up Cairngorm you enter the Visitor Centre. The views are great, apart from the multitude of snow fences close by. The restaurant is more like a cafeteria with a limited institutional menu. The food is OK but certainly not going out of one's way to eat. prices are near average. Views are good. Staff... More

We visited the highest restaurant in Scotland during a walking trip across the Cairngorms on a wet day. After a one hour hike from the Ski Centre the Ptarmigan restaurant appeared out of the mist. The restaurant was fairly quite on this wet day in September. The staff were very friendly and although the fruit scones were very dry, unlike... More

We visited the restaurant in April after riding on the mountain railway and meeting my husband at the top with the 2 small dogs? We telephoned before visiting and was told the dogs would be welcome in the restaurant only to discover at the top of the mountain with nowhere else to go that they were not allowed in? My... More

If you don't want to carry your lunch around with you then this should do the trick. Considering it has what is essentially a captive audience it was reasonable value and most of my friends who bought the burger meal deals got more food than they were expecting. Certainly better value than the slope food in France. More modest options... More

How many eating places do you get to visit at this height and with such spectacular views- you have to compare like for like and no, its not a restaurant its a canteen style cafe at the top of a mountain - don't expect romantic dining or cordon bleu food ! Given the monopoly and the uniqueness I was expecting... More

For a start I'm not sure what some reviewers are expecting. It's a restaurant built to princaply cater for skiers and snowboarders 1,000m up a mountain. Things are going to be a little more expensive and every ski centre I've been to has the same cafe/canteen style service so you can eat quickly and get back out on the slopes.... More

We ate in this restaurant both days that we skied on Cairngorm Mountain. The food is good and locally sourced which we liked. There was good variety, from soup and hot meals to delicious cakes. It was ideal to refuel us during a day's skiing.
