Great food and pre theatres menu great value. Went in at 1703 and felt less than welcome and so got stuck at the front door seat! However food, service and value redeemed the evening and some

We had dish of the day - sea bream - asked for head to be removed and this done. Sauce with fish very oily and sea bream tasteless. Roasted vegetables (a small pudding bowl for two to share) very oily too. Dining experience - strange - crockery mixed - china cups and saucers but none matched - maybe wacky -... More

We visited No 88 for 5pm lunch on a Friday and were the only patrons to enjoy a relaxing lunch. There was a warm welcome to this room and kitchen restaurant with it's unique gold painted plasterwork and stunning painting of the two fat ladies. Definitely an intimate venue in a compact setting, where the chef cooks in a tiny... More

Popped in for an early dinner. The pre-theatre menu represents great value for money. Friendly prompt service. Food is good, all seemingly freshly cooked (tables near the front see the chef/kitchen). The mussels had sold out, but we were offered an alternative from the main menu which was perfectly acceptable. Will happily return here again.

We've ordered typical scottish fish soup as a starter = delicious Cod fish = delicious dessert = delicious This is a small restaurant with kitchen in front, however the food and service was great. I do recomend to everyone. Reasonable prices as well.

Went here with my wife and in laws for dinner. I like this restaurant. The service is nice and the food is also very good. The one massive reservation I have is, it's far too stuffy and hot in the dining room. There's no air-con and the diners are tightly packed. In this day and age, that seems ridiculous. I... More

This was a late lunch visit on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was quiet, just us and a table of three. It's a smallish place with very quirky decor. Frank Sinatra and Nina Simone tracks were playing in the background. The overall ambience is great. A lovely cosy and intimate feel. The service from our waitress was impeccable. The food... More

Went for a late lunch to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. Both the A La Carte and the Lunch menus were great and we had a selection from both. The Mussels were the highlight starter and the Lemon Sole was absolutely delicious and pipped the other main courses as winner of the day. We finished by having the Sharing Platter... More

We ate here two years ago and if anything the place has improved. You could not fault the food or the service. We booked in at seven and didn't leave til ten. A popular venue so do book.
