Dakhin restaurant in Glasgow is another head boy from the class act who brought you Dhabba. Authentic South Indian cuisine is the focus in this Merchant City destination decorated in the modern casual vernacular: sleek lines with splashes of vibrant colour. The menu features dishes without weird colourings and slicks of oil, dishes where complex flavours shine through. The specialty is dosa, thin crepes of rice and lentils stuffed with irresistible fillings, though the emphasis on vegetarian and basmatic dishes is excellent, too. The three-course thali lunch deal and the pre-theatre offer are a steal. Award-winning cuisine in a bright, modern setting – great for quick lunches and easy dinners

Totally different but so worth it

The are famous for their southern Indian cuisine so expect seafood. Tons of great selection and well worth the visit We had the sea bass in banana leaf and that was just divine. Cooked to perfection. I also love the fact they are not for piling food on. It is about the taste. Well done

Enjoyed my first meal in Dakhin recently, food VERY tasty and authentic but with a twist. Lovely setting onto merchant city, Glasgow if you get a window seat. Staff very helpful.

Before I visited dakhin I never knew much about South Indian cuisine. Took just one visit and I already love this place. The ambience is warm and pleasing and as soon as you enter it sets your mood. The food is so full of flavours and their friendly and attentive service completed the whole experience. Will definitely be back!

First time I have tried a South Indian Restaurant, even though I am an Indian and regularly visit India (my visits have always been restricted to the north). Tried a seafood curry -

Visited Dhakin without a reservation on a Friday evening, but we were promptly seated at a table overlooking the street with a great view. Service was good, without being over solicitous. Appetisers of poppadoms with mint chutney, tomato and black mustard seeds and dried spices were nice touch. Starters were lovely, we especially liked the bhaji of spinach and onion... More

As you'll see I reviewed the Dakhin approximately 6 weeks ago after a disastrous visit where we left before our mains arrived having waited a ridiculous time between starter (delicious) and mains arriving. This time was a Monday before a gig at the Barrowlands and very quiet. Shared starter and 2x mains were delivered in a timely manner and all... More

Had high expectations based on the reviews. But was thoroughly disappointed. They served popaddams which were completely crushed. The starter we ordered tasted raw. The main course was definitely not authentic south Indian. They were very saucy. Very poor service as well.

Please look at my previous reviews and you will see I do not give low scores so I have not marked this low without a lot of thought, I visit restaurants all the time and have not experienced such terrible service. Pity too because the food is very good and at one point in the evening we were chating about... More

Dined here last week. Got the 5pm deal which gives you 50% off mains. The food is simply awesome and the service is very good! Restaurant has recently been renovated and makes for pleasant dining atmosphere! Highly recommend to couples, groups and business dinners! South Indian food isn't the "norm" for an "Indian meal" but it's 100% a must-try!!!!!! We'll... More

The restaurant was recommended to us so we had some big expectations; however they weren't really delivered. We're not Indian food lovers and we just wanted to give it another try so commenting on food wouldn't be fair (we still don't like the cuisine!), however we were also disappointed with service - it was early Thursday night and there were...
