Description: Dakhin restaurant in Glasgow is another head boy from the class act who brought you Dhabba. Authentic South Indian cuisine is the focus in this Merchant City destination decorated in the modern casual vernacular: sleek lines with splashes of vibrant colour. The menu features dishes without weird colourings and slicks of oil, dishes where complex flavours shine through. The specialty is dosa, thin crepes of rice and lentils stuffed with irresistible fillings, though the emphasis on vegetarian and basmatic dishes is excellent, too. The three-course thali lunch deal and the pre-theatre offer are a steal. Award-winning cuisine in a bright, modern setting – great for quick lunches and easy dinners

Having walked past the entrance to The Dakhin and dismissed going there, I then read a very informative review and booked a table. The entrance at street level could put people off (as we were), but when you arrive in the restaurant on the first floor, it is very different. A busy Saturday night didn't detract from the quality of... More

This is a really good Southern Indian restaurant. The range of the dishes is excellent and the quality of the food is very, very good. This is really good Indian food and not to be confused with a "normal curry house" - brilliant!

Chose this restaurant for a family get-together recently. We weren't disappointed - fantastic variety of delicious, freshly cooked food (and plenty of it). Staff were attentive and helpful but didn't 'hover' as can happen today in many restaurants. A great time was had by all.

We liked the variety of menu and the fact that there were a number of fish dishes. The food was well presented and tasty but service was a little slow. The mixed starter was really good, particularly the haddock and the mushrooms. If you have the whole sea bream, you can choose a sauce, which is a welcome touch. Wouldn't... More

The Dakhin is South Indian perfection. I had a salmon dish, Meen Rost, which was fantastic and the two feet long paper dosa is a must. Can't wait to go back. Service was also brilliant. Go, you won't regret it. Unless you hate real Indian food.

Have eaten in more Indian restaurants than I care to remember , but this is in my top 3 , the food was so fresh and clean in taste , the staff were excellent in helping choose different sauces to accompany the food , but the main difference was the menu , totally unlike every other Indian in Glasgow. I've been here 3 or 4 times now and love the food, it has a real delicacy but full of flavour. Share a dosa, it is like a bed sheet! The staff are always friendly and I'm looking forward to going back.

Best south Indian food in Scotland. Usually has good service but had to wait for 45 minutes to get anything - restaurant was packed and staff numbers seemed inadequate for job. They tried hard!

Lovely place, good food, helpful staff. Quiet. Do you need any other reason? I helped myself to a non veg thali. Portions were just right for a man. Flavours was as authentic as having it in a Chennai household. Taste was superb. Need to visit often I guess.

Fragrant, colourful and authentic Indian food in a nice open setting. My partner and I were seated by the window for a nice pre-theatre deal (otherwise the prices are a bit up there, especially with the flamed seafood menu options). Large servings, especially suited to carnivores like myself. Lovely service, very friendly and attentive. Definitely not the standard Tikka Masala... More
