Description: Dakhin restaurant in Glasgow is another head boy from the class act who brought you Dhabba. Authentic South Indian cuisine is the focus in this Merchant City destination decorated in the modern casual vernacular: sleek lines with splashes of vibrant colour. The menu features dishes without weird colourings and slicks of oil, dishes where complex flavours shine through. The specialty is dosa, thin crepes of rice and lentils stuffed with irresistible fillings, though the emphasis on vegetarian and basmatic dishes is excellent, too. The three-course thali lunch deal and the pre-theatre offer are a steal. Award-winning cuisine in a bright, modern setting – great for quick lunches and easy dinners

I guess expectations are a little high but found the food reasonably good .Could be more authentic and spicy but I guess this is due to modifying it to the local tastes. My husband found his chicken biriani good.My prawn biriani was a little mild but the lamb stew was quite nice..just a tad sweet -would have preferred it a little... Superb restaurant, the quality and variety of food is superb and does offer a genuine alternative to the usual Indian fare. Service too is excellent. The cost is higher than many standard Indian restaurants but is well worth the extra.

Friendly informative staff in an open airy room. The food was South Indian with clear description of spices and use of coconut and a selection of rices. Well worth a visit.

Great location in the heart of the city. Quite a small menu but the food was excellent and a bit different to the normal Indian. A busy restaurant so consider booking to ensure you get in. Definitely worth a visit

It is hard to find a South Indian restaurant, as there are so many people just wanting a Korma, but Dakhin breaks away and gives very traditional food with exceptional taste. Rather than jumping in and having a go, we asked for the suggestions of the waiter and it did not disappoint and the menu complimented everything very well. The... More

This is my third visit and this restaurant still delivers excellent food and great service. The menu selection is not your typical Indian food tailored, to the European palate, but something more unique to the flavours from South India. The dosa is something quite different and spectacular as it jab paper thin and over two feet in length. For me,... More

Very tasty and authentic flavours. Dishes on feature are not your borg standard avarage ones you get at any south indian restaurant but that from remote regions of india. A little steep in pricing but definitely worth it. Good ambience, good quality food and friendly staff.

Despite the restaurant being almost empty, on arrival we were ushered into a waiting area whilst a particular table was cleaned. The other empty tables were ready for use but we were made to wait without even being asked if we wanted a drink? When we made our way towards the table which had been cleaned and service put out,... Forget you're going for a curry. Think of it more of a Chinese curry with a bit more spices and you're getting close. To be fair to this place, the menu is very original with no sign of pakora, naan bread or any well-known main course. Took a good 20 minutes for the order to be taken and a good... More
