A recent evening at the brasserie of this Glasgow legend reminded us about the qualities of the Ubiquitous Chip so we decided to celebrate a birthday over lunch in the main restaurant and our celebration was enhanced by the excellent Saturday lunchtime 3 piece jazz band. Our service was friendly, attentive and helpful. The atmosphere and decor have changed little... More

Visited the 'Chip' on Thursday 10th April. For a birthday meal. My wife and I had an excellent early evening meal. Staff were friendly helpful and informative. Food was excellent and Scottish produce was in abundance. A very enjoyable evening. Blair Thomson.

Perhaps best by day light, so as to enjoy the ground floor fish pond and hanging plants. On Saturday we also had a 3 piece band. Service was very good from long service staff.( Ask Australian Jenna to make your coffee). Clear, interesting wine list, large glasses are served from mini individual carafe. Our large table for two was smart... More

The Ubiquitous Chip comes with an excellent reputation and there is very good reason for this. I took my partner for a romantic meal and it was excellent. The food was wonderful and the service was friendly. I would highly recommend it.

Went with a large party for business. Had heard about the Chip before but never had the chance to visit. Because of the large numbers, there was a limited menu, and veggies may have struggled. Still, I tried something new - venison haggis which was surprisingly good - and also really enjoyed the guinea fowl. Nice wine was supplied and... More

I was fortunate enough to win lunch for two with matching wines at The Chip after entering a draw at House of Fraser in Glasgow. My husband and I had an extra special 3 course lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent and we will certainly be back. I would recommend The Chip to anyone.... Don't miss the pieces (sandwiches)! Our party enjoyed 1 fresh fish piece and 2 kedgeree plates with 3 beers (ordered at the bar) for well under 30 Pounds Sterling in the bar area - excellent quality at excellent value. Great atmosphere with a wood fire going in the fireplace!

Went into the Upstairs Chip Bar for a drink yesterday around 6pm. Bar was very quiet and I asked for a pint of Deuchars IPA. I did notice that the barman was slightly offhand in the way he served me (no Thank You or anything when he took my money) and to be honest, it didn't look like the best... More
