I like the chip. A few years ago I went and was blown away by the quality of the food. It was "simple" yet delicious. I decided to return, having been around Glasgow and other cities, to sample its wares again. First thing's first. The service was fantastic. The young man who served us was excellent, remembering an off hand... More

I drink in the Chip quite often but haven't eaten in the main restaurant in a few years (and not since I was diagnosed as a coeliac). My family and I arrived early but we were seated quickly. I explained I was a coeliac (I've avoided eating our since my diagnosis!) and they produced a parallel gluten free menu...essentially the... More

My guests really enjoyed lunch, with the venison haggis a particular favourite. The roe deer was also great. Service was fine although a little slow at times. Lovely location, and the set menu really good value for money.

This is a delightful restaurant. The setting is unusual, full of light and foliage, like a sophisticated greenhouse. The service is relaxed, informal and smoothly efficient. And the food is high end without quite being Michelin star quality. I recommend the venison haggis starter, which apparently has been on the menu since the 1970s. My wife and I would also... More

You've got to love "The Chip" as it's known locally. You need to know about it to be able to find Ashton Lane in the West end of Glasgow but it's worth a trip out of the city centre. Cracking vib, great food and a really good selection of wines and beers.

Four days in Glasgow visiting a local and it rained for three. On the day the sun shone we walked the West End and finished our day here, one of her favourite restaurants. I could immediately see why. Starting in the convivial bar we enjoyed an aperitif before moving through into the upstairs brasserie area area which was flooded with... More

a group of 10 dined at the chip many years I first tried the place. It was excellent. Really excellent. Very solid service of some really good steak. Starters were reasonable if slightly mediocre but the steaks were absolutely excellent.

I so enjoyed the meal, the wine and the excellent service. I loved the decorations and took photos of the lighting- worth the trip alone. I had the atrium to myself and had the best meal of all. Would recommend this to all, including an enchanting walk to it.

We found the food to be pretty good but our meal was spoiled with the wine waiter giving us a bottle of un-chilled white wine. When we complained he did put it in a ice bucket, However, the wine should not have been served in the first place unless thoroughly chilled - sort of basic! The atmosphere in the restaurant... More
