I thought my dining experience at Mother India was very different from what I expected. The restaurant has a very stylish old world decor. I'd recommend booking a table on the first floor. Service was friendly and attentive. I thought the food was unusual. My own choices were fine but I would go back to try others. It's not a... More

Really flavoursome food without the heat, definitely not a run of the mill Indian restaurant . Would recommend fish pakora and lack Dahl

My fiancé and I went for a romantic meal as part of the pre theatre menu deal prior to the Billy Connolly concert. I have never been to Mother India but I had heard good things about the restaurant from various sources and through the press. When we walked in the door we were completely blown away with how stunning... More

Good food! But service was a wee bit rushed. We felt that they wanted to get us out a bit quick. We have hate here three times now and felt the same each time we have been here. Slow it down a little guys

Fantastic Indian restaurant. Always busy and for good reason. Set over 3 levels (request 1st floor when booking) the standard of food is consistently outstanding. Some real traditional meals in lovely surroundings. Highlights include fish pakora, monkfish and prawn curry, chicken in spinach leaf, chicken tikka plus many more. Theirs a reason it's busy and that's cause it's fantastic. Wear... More

Had another great meal tonight impeccable as usual. I tend to vist Mother India Cafe much more often along with The Den located next door to the cafe. Never really had a bad visit that I can recall to date so highly recommended. A quick comment on the earlier review regarding tips, I have a great rapport with the staff... More

first of all started off with a lost reservation which meant getting our table for 2 sitting right next to the ladies toilet, meaning you get interrupted every 2 mins. We were disappointed with the selection of food available on the menu. I felt you are really restricted to what you can eat if you cant stomach fish. The starters... More

Had a night out with friends at the restaurant and had an excellent meal. My butter chicken was just amazing. The service was prompt and polite and all the food arrived in the right order at the right time. Well worth the walk out from the city centre.

We tried Mother India's Cafe and weren't impressed by a few things, listed in a separate review. But in order to check out both the good recommendations and the not-so-good we decided to give the cafe's 'mother' restaurant a try. This Pakistani-owned chain of restaurants goes by different names both in Glasgow and Edinburgh. We'd read that the food was... More

Thank you for your observations. We note that you posted similar comments about our alleged treatment of staff and our tipping policy in relation to another of our businesses, on 17th October. Our view now is the same as it was then: that your allegations are misinformed, reliant upon third-party hearsay and completely untrue. We also feel that your comments... More

Once again I had to be rolled out of this restaurant after attempting the whole leg of lamb in spices between two people. It would easily feed or four with sundries! I love the menu....simple, well constructed and exciting. The food was delicious! My mouth waters just thinking about it! The only thing I would improve is the online booking... More
