A small but interesting menu

Excellent menu but ambience lacked any spark. The waiter was lacking any enthusiasm, and was undynamic in his service.

We visited this bistro the first few weeks after it had opened its door for business, and it struck me then as very 'a la 90's Londres' - not a criticism so much as an observation - the 'maître d' was efficient, interesting and informative - they clearly know about good food and service. Cooking from scratch is an art,... More

Visited this quiet intimate bistro with my wife. Surroundings pleasant, food good. We shared meat platter to start and each had steaks, filet and sirloin. Both well prepared and very pleasant. Service and price are only question marks for me - a little slow and a little steep but did buy wine by the glass.

Went to the restaurant for the deal listed in the title to discover that the time stated on the website was finished half an hour earlier (according to the menu). However on asking they said we would still be able to get the offer. We then ordered starters (snails and frogs legs) which were nice enough. The steaks were pretty... More

Walked past this restaurant many times due to its understated frontage. Our intention to have a quick pre-theatre meal changed when we saw the a la carte menu offer. We were not disappointed in great part because they proved it is possible to have a steak cooked exactly as ordered. The rest of the meal and wine were also superb.... More

My friend and I went for a midweek catch up dinner and thought we would try Le Bistro. I'm glad we did - it's a really cute wee place! We went for the steak frites and wine deal, which was a bargain at £30 for two. The food was delicious - great chips (and I'm not usually a chip person).... More

Set course menu is brilliant. The food is amazing and it's like a little bit of Paris in Glasgow. The vegetarian option the last few times I've visited have been pasta bake but it is possibly the best pasta bake in the world.

I went to the Bistro on many occasions and always enjoy the duck, the bourguignon, the goat cheese salad and many other meals. Good music/lights/candles and good service from all waiters.

This bistro is close to home and office and yet this was our first visit. Ambience and food very good indeed. Not a restaurant to be rushed at, sit down, relax and enjoy the fine French wine for 2+ hours or more and it will leave you feeling good. Tip - try not to tell the staff that you have... More

I marked average because the food was good. Sadly my experience of the service was poor this evening. Could it be that they were short staffed? The waiters seemed pleasant enough when taking your order but I also think it's the small things that matter. For example, rather than dump a bottle of red wine on your table with a... More
