Went to Waxys for lunch with my wife and daughter who was asked for ID...and it was done politely...they do have a strict policy which we had no problem with...guy only doing his job....pleasent friendly staff serving excellent food...will definitely go back when next in Glasgow.

Had lovely meal out with my daughter and her boyfriend ..only to be soured by the attitude of the the bouncer on back door of waxys..one minute joking and asking for my daughter's and her boyfriends ID.. Then turning to my partner who is in his 40's and saying he had staggered up the street and we were not getting... More

Hi Apologies for the bad experience you had gaining entry over the weekend. As I mentioned in my response to another member of your party's review below, I have raised an investigation with the security company we use. This is on going at the moment. I am still awaiting further information regarding times and a description of the steward from... More

After having a fantastic meal in the city centre with my family 'another 2 couples' we decided to go one of our favourite bars Waxys. That i have had many good nights in. On our way there we were having a good giggle at some ladies on a hen night which were dressed up. As we approached the door. The... More

After attending a 5* dining restaurant in the city centre we (family of 6) decided to visit Waxys. On approach to the door the doorman said "someone's has had a drink tonight" Nothing else, conclusion drawn before we had all reached the door. I (in shock) asked if he was joking. To make such asumption without even speaking to me... More

Hi I am very sorry to hear about your recent experience. We use an outside company for our security. We do try and monitor them on the door to ensure they are adhering to our door policy and also being the welcome face of Waxy's. I will be conducting a full investigation with the security company in the upcoming few... More

Walked up to waxy's. (Must point out, normally one if my favourite bars in Glasgow) however tonight took my mother and her partner as they were down to visit. As usual myself and my partner (both just over the age of 20) were ID'ed so the bouncer joked with my parents for their ID as well which was all taken... More

Hi Jayanne I am very sorry to hear of the way you were treated by our door steward. We outsource our security to another company and it seems on this occasion they have let the reputation of Waxy's down and caused embarrassment to your party and yourself. I would be grateful if you could email gmglasgow@waxyoconnors.co.uk and advise me of... More

Quite simply the best mussels I've ever had. Served in a massive crock with a side of soda bread, completely delicious, unbelievable value and such a big portion that it's hard to finish. Every time I'm in Glasgow I'll be going to Waxy's for Mussels and Guinness.

Entering this pub is a bit like Alice heading down the rabbit hole. It's easy to get lost amongst the labyrinth of stairs and levels, I'm sure I still haven't visited every floor or bar within but it's fun trying. The interior always has something to look at and on Saturday afternoon they had some live music from a young... More

This Irish pub was recommended to us by another Canadian couple whom we met while staying in Glasgow (18 Aug 2014). There are two different entrances and several levels of bar and restaurant. For dinner, I had their all day breakfast which included black pudding and haggis. My spouse had fish and chips. Both were filling and delicious. Not bad... More

Just a unique place to eat... Decor & layout is really neat. Food is good; staff are just ok but it's worth it to go just for a different setting!

Waxy's advertises itself with 'whatever your function, whether birthday party, office celebration or leaving do you're guaranteed to enjoy the craic'. What they should have after that is 'unless you have a t shirt on with Hen Do written on the front of it cause then don't even bother coming in as we will refuse to serve you and ask... More
