Phenomenal chowder

We stopped in for a couple pints and some food. My wife and I both had the seafood chowder and it was the best we've ever had. The service has a little room for improvement, but that chowder made up for it.

The place is very nicely decorated. The bottom of our table was the bottom part of a Singer sewing machine. The wooden walls and floor make you feel like you're back in time. We really enjoyed the food and the service was impecable. We definitely recommend it for lunch. We were here for a few hours during the day and... More

What a weird and wonderful place. Easily the coolest pub I've ever set foot in. If you are a Harry Potter type person/fan, you will love this place.

We stopped for lunch at Waxy's, although it was also called Murphys in Glasgow. I ordered the seafood chowder and I was very pleased with it. What was so nice about eating at the little pubs all over the UK, is if you didn't like beer, they had wine!!

Booked a table for two here on a Friday night to use my Tastecard. All the staff we interacted with were really helpful, wonderfully polite and attentive. The pub itself is in an excellent location, a stones throw from Glasgow Queen Street Station. The inside layout is a bit random and confusing, lots and lots of stairs! The place is... More

The pints were cold and went down well. Architecturally speaking, inside this pub is a marvel. Wonderful ambiance but mediocre food. Well worth a visit as is the "official" bar of The Carlton George Hotel.

Went in to this place with my wife at 5pm and asked if we could use our Tastecard to have a meal. There were 6 other people in this huge place,2 at one table and 4 at another. After phoning her boss the barmaid told us if we phoned and made a reservation - yes she asked us to phone... More

We finished a day of shopping in Waxy's before heading home, usual busy place which men's a lot, I'd be worried if it was empty. We opted for the burgers from the basic menu, which cuts down the long choices of not knowing what to pick. My wife had a chicken Burger which came with half a gherkin Chuncky chips... More
