Quirky pub, central location, excellent service, standard pub food

Booked a table for two here on a Friday night to use my Tastecard. All the staff we interacted with were really helpful, wonderfully polite and attentive. The pub itself is in an excellent location, a stones throw from Glasgow Queen Street Station. The inside layout is a bit random and... read more

First visit very impressive building. Staff friendly and good service. Food was a bit disappointing but would return and try again.

The pints were cold and went down well. Architecturally speaking, inside this pub is a marvel. Wonderful ambiance but mediocre food. Well worth a visit as is the "official" bar of The Carlton George Hotel.

Went in to this place with my wife at 5pm and asked if we could use our Tastecard to have a meal. There were 6 other people in this huge place,2 at one table and 4 at another. After phoning her boss the barmaid told us if we phoned and made a reservation - yes she asked us to phone... More

We finished a day of shopping in Waxy's before heading home, usual busy place which men's a lot, I'd be worried if it was empty. We opted for the burgers from the basic menu, which cuts down the long choices of not knowing what to pick. My wife had a chicken Burger which came with half a gherkin Chuncky chips... More

Went to this bar earlier this week. Impressive setting but not too many sitting areas. My colleague and I bought a beer and had trouble finding somewhere to sit. We eventually found 2 seats in one of the bar areas. Halfway though our drinks we were very rudely asked to leave immediately by a bar maid as they were closing... More

Hi Many thanks for your review. Sorry that you did not enjoy your experience when visiting us. We reserve some areas for pre booked functions. You must have missed the signs that were on the entrance and within the room. The area was not closed but the booked party was due in five minutes and this is why the member... More

I arrived here on sat 30.5.15 evening with Friends visiting from Dublin. We were just out therefore sober !! Bouncer in the door was very rude and swore at me because I didn't get my umbrella down quick enough!! Very disappointed indeed and not a nice impression given!' We went elsewhere and won't be returning!

Great pub in the centre of Glasgow very close to everything. It sits just off George Square near shops and lots of bars and restaurants. It is built on lots of different levels with numerous bars it has a feeling of being very old but everything was clean and tidy. There are lots of rooms everywhere and balconies to watch... More

Many thanks for your lovely review. We are 16 years old this year and will be refurbishing our entire pub during the summer to freshen it up. I hope you return again then to see the pub. It's going to be great. We are the official pub of the Glasgow Warriors and rugby is very important to us. We do... More

Had a fantastic night last night, staff very friendly, good choice of drinks food OK but nothing special. Having left however it was impossible to get back in due to the old guy on the door who decided that I was not welcome after I had left. If you ask him I was a single man just out for a... More

Hi Thanks for your review and I am glad you had a fantastic night. I apologise you were upset by being refused re-entry. Our door stewards would refuse admittance for various reasons and I can assure you that being a single person is not one. I will investigate your concerns with the door steward you described. Thank you for bringing... More
