Ease of a family home, quality of a Michelin starred restaurant.

This intimate restaurant is at ease with itself. Our family chose from an extensive menu. The food was characterised by quality produce, careful balance and a deep and knowing love of food. I almost want to keep it secret but the word is clearly out! Great team of staff made the evening perfect.

This wee gem never disappoints! It's unpretentiousness nature is greatly admired, and it's home cooking is simply fantastic. In an age when you can pay £70 for a taster menu in fancier restaurants but still leave hungry and unsatisfied, the black sheep allows you to have a beautiful meal that fills and satisfies with every mouthful! The service as always... More

I have been to this great little family ran restaurant several times now and never been disappointed. The food is all home cooked and just to die for. One word of advice is don't eat too much before you go because the portions are massive. You certainly won't leave here feeling hungry. Great choice on the menu with everything from... More

Eventually managed to get a table!! So glad we did, everything was amazing, I had scallops and black pudding starter, husband had stuffed mushroom, a tad expensive at £6.50 for one large mushroom, but was so tasty, I had roast beef (Sunday dinner) husband had balmoral chicken, both delish and massive portions, almost, I say ALMOST didn't have dessert, I... Having read reviews on Trip advisor we finally managed to get a table for lunch on Sunday after trying for the past couple of months, our expectations were extremely high due to the excellent reviews and the length of time taken to get a booking! We were aware that the restaurant was small, but we were not worried about this,... More

Looking for somewhere different to try and found this restaurant on trip advisor. Staff were lovely and the place had a lovely homely friendly feeling. The waitress went over menu specials and answered our questions. We were given a bottle of cold water without us asking while we waited on drinks arriving, nice touch. Homemade soup was delicious, steak pie divine... More

Good sized (generous) portions. Great value. Traditional favourites and more unusual dishes or twists on old favourites. Desserts are a must. Good choice of microbrewery beers and wines. Great service.

This restaurant may be small, but has a lovely cosy atmosphere. The food is fantastic, and the staff are very friendly and ensure that you have an enjoyable time. I would highly recommend this place to others. When you've been once, you'll want to go back.
