Make sure you get a table in the cafe itself, not a side room!

This is a lovely cafe/ restaurant with good views to the park outside. However on our most recent visit we were seated in a side room, which has none of the delightful ambiance of the main room - very disappointing. This was in spite of having booked well in advance! So if booking ahead, make... read more

We arrived on a beautiful, sunny Spring day and received a very warm welcome as we entered the restaurant. The menu choice and food quality were excellent and each course was served by an attentive and efficient waiting team. The restaurant is located within Bellahouston Park, which, with its walled garden and lots of paths for walking, provides a very... More

As a party of 4, we visited the cafe after spending three very chilled hours visiting the house and gardens. We had a reservation for later in the afternoon, but the staff very obligingly agreed to take us early, with no fuss at all, despite the cafe being busy. The food was excellent, and of the 4 starters, 4 mains... More

Our starter was fine although it took a while for the order to be taken. We had to wait an inordinate amount of time for the main course. After we complained, the meal was brought out. Made us think it had been sitting waiting. My chicken was dry and my husband's fish was very small and had a lot of... More

We took my partner's mother for a celebration lunch for both Mother's day and her 92nd Birthday to the cafe/ restaurant. The service was impeccable - friendly and attentive - and the atmosphere relaxed and not too noisy which was also perfect. The food was overall excellent but unfortunately the lamb which Mother ordered was on the tough side and... More

I was given a £50 gift voucher from my parents. We went on a Sunday and it was quite busy. They managed to seat us without a reservation which was good. We told the waitress that we had a voucher at the start. Told her that we would like to split the voucher into 2 £25 vouchers so we could... More

I visit here regularly with 3 different groups of friends and have always enjoyed the creative dishes and beautiful food presentation . Last 2 visits however, I have noticed less choice in their menus both special and a la carte. Today my group of five all struggled to find anything appealing in main courses. We did all order with only... More

House for an Art Lover never fails to provide excellent food served by really lovely and helpful staff. We recently enjoyed a 90th birthday celebration and had the private room off the main cafe where we could relax and the children could chatter without disturbing other diners. We were served by Charlie who was so efficient and really looked after... More

Had a seasonal lunch here in December and unfortunately one of the party came down with a very nasty food poisoning (the turkey?). Have previously enjoyed a number of very good lunches here so disappointing.

Dear MaryFN, We take any alleged food poisoning claim extremely seriously and this review comes as a complete surprise. We have checked back on our files and nothing has been reported by yourself or any of the parties in question to any of the team or management in the House. Additionally no other diners over the festive period, including the... More
