The art was nice, the staff were friendly, and the food was very good.

We went to the Art lovers cafe for a family event and despite our rather large and unmanageable party size the staff got us all seated and settled quickly and effortlessly. Why oh why has it been 15 years since I visited this café- I don't know. It was great then and still is now. My sister and I enjoyed a brilliant lunch consisting of main courses- hake with clams:: scallops, black pudding and chorizo which were cooked to perfection. We ended with the dessert sharing platter which was absolutely divine.... More

My pal had her 50th birthday at HOAAL. Everything about it was brilliant. David, Jack and Blair were on top form keeping everyone's drinks topped up. The buffet was delicious too. Overall a great venue and a great party.

Visited this afternoon for afternoon tea for six to celebrate my Mums 80 th birthday, hoping and expecting it to be a special occasion. Tea/ coffee orders were taken by raising hands rather than individually and shortly after 6 two tier plates arrived- sandwiches on the top, cakes and a scone (cream and jam- no butter) on the bottom. Tea... More

I was here for a large family gathering on the 3rd of January. The meal was pretty ordered as we were a large party. We were greeted with a selection of fruit juices as we had asked for soft drinks. Presented on the table was a further selection of soft drinks to enjoy through out the meal. The staff were... More

My wife has lunched here on several occasions and when I visited for the first time I could see that the majority of the customers were 'Ladies who Lunch'. There was six of us and we had the Christmas menu. For starters 2 had soup, 1 had the prawn cocktail and two had the cured salmon. No complaints and clean... More

Thank-you for choosing the house for your festive lunch, it great to hear that overall your party enjoyed their meal. Disappointing however to find that we didn't quite hit the mark with the Brussel Sprouts, we will definitely take note for future. Feedback helps us to know when we are getting it right, and also when we maybe need to... More

I visited twice last week and chose from the festive menu the first time and the a la Carte the second. One of my party ordered the gnocchi without cheese crisps to ensure it was vegetarian (parmesan has rennet and is not suitable for vegetarians), however when the meal was served she was given nothing. It transpired there was cheese... More

Many thanks for taking the time to let us know how you got on for your recent visits to the Art Lovers Cafe. We are sorry to hear that one of your party experienced issues with the vegetarian main meal. this is a wonderful Café experience. The food is good and the service better. The layout is in keeping with the Rennie Macintosh style. Pricing is reasonable and access for the disabled is good.
