A real treat

A friend and I had a superb meal at Wee Lochan on the pre-theatre menu. The food was imaginative and well-presented modern Scottish fare, strongly flavoured and perfectly judged. The staff were extremely friendly and the whole experience was a delight. I now plan to make this a regular place when I... read more

we went with friends for a surprise birthday meal, and had a brilliant time. The food is just wonderful, Cullen skink that is a meal in itself, oak smoked haddock on mash with poached egg (how do they get the eggs so perfect !) and to finish how can you not have the sticky toffee pud! Staff are brilliant, and... More

Visited on St Valentine, and, to our great pleasure the Wee Lochan was running its normal menu. We both enjoyed a lovely three course meal, well balanced, with lovely wine. Big thumbs up for the new desert combo, which was in our eyes outstanding and a definite keeper on the menu. Thank you Wee Lochan, it's always a pleasure to... More

We had dinner here. It has straightforward décor, relaxed atmosphere and good staff. The menu is a mixture of Scottish and French dishes, with fusion influences. Two of us had black pudding with poached egg and salad to start, another had monkfish tempura. Mains included steak with dauphinoise potatoes (this need a bit more cream), a blue cheese tart on... I've been using trip advisor for years to find places and only once before have I written a review. That was for a place in nerja which I thought was outstanding. Tonight I thought this place was the same. The staff from the moment we walked in couldn't have been any more pleasant and informative, without being in your face.... More

Exceptional high quality meal. Great starters selection, spoilt for choice. Wonderful roast sirloin main. Undoubtedly the best in the West.

We have been here about a dozen times, always great food, great service, cannot fault it at all. The owners and staff are attentive, and friendly. The food is always perfectly cooked, from soups to roasts to desserts... everything is delicious and cooked carefully and with love. We will continue to come for the excellent fresh food and lovely service... More

Thank you again for a marvellous lunch. The quality of the food was superb as was the service. The starter of smoked Damon on a pancake is one that I will be copying in the near future. At £16.95 for lunch the wee Lochan must be one of the best deals in Scotland. No hint of cooking to a budget... More
