Visited here for Saturday lunch to celebrate my birthday. We will not be returning. There were 2 of us and we were placed at a table right next to the serving position, with resultant nose and clatter and constant movememt of staff to and from the serving position and also customers going to and from the loos, it was like... This small restaurant is situated in Broomhil,l close to the primary school. Good, free on-street parking. The menu is fairly short but offers a good variety eg 1 beef, i venison, 1 pork, couple of fish. Service is excellent - mostly by students. They are written up on the wine list. Food is well prepared and tasty but lacking the... More

I've eaten here on several occasions over the past few years. I like the place in terms of its general ambience. The food is of good quality, they have a nice wine list and there are some imaginative taste combinations on the predominantly fish menu. I live nearby, so it's very handy. On the negative side, I find it quite... More

Hi Aisla here, I'm sorry you don't like our newsletters. Personally I was aiming more for Frances Gay than the local Minister in style but hey each critic to his own analyses! although I believe the Minister of my local church writes rather racey spy novels in her spare time and is a bit put out by your comments. I'm... More

We ate on a Monday night in early September. The place was packed, probably the best indicator of quality you'll need (and also a nod to the value of the pre-theatre menu, no doubt). I've been here a few times before, and have never been disappointed, but they seem to have improved their menu (new chef?), as this was by... More

Not been here before despite living fairly close but will definitely be back. Food was excellent and service likewise - our young waiter is definitely in the right job. Friendly and welcoming - this is the sort of attitude and menu that makes regulars. And the fudge is spectacular.

Managed to get organised and book far enough in advance to get a table after a number of previous attempts. Service and atmosphere were great - nice location. Had a crab starter and steamed hake in a Thai style sauce. Both were very tasty and can definitely say I will be back. Would recommend to anybody in the area to... More

Had a fabulous table by the window and the food and service was superb. Started with the Fish Soup which was a lovely combo of 'chowdery' smoked fish with a hint of bouillabaisse. Followed by exquisitely cooked duck, the puree and accompaniments were gorgeous. Cheese board fabulous. Blue Murder is a sumptuous Scottish cheese and the butternut squash chutney complimented... Fair attempt, just fell short. Was recommended by a client who compared it to another west-end Scottish restaurant, just not in the same league I'm afraid. I don't think I'm being unfair as our scallops were raw and cold in the middle, some might say that we aught to have asked to have them refired but really they aught to... More

Hi Aisla here, I'm sorry to hear your scallops were undercooked. I also agree heartily that they ought to have been cooked correctly- our sincere apologies for that. A spot of extra chef training will be underway this morning methinks! On a more positive note the pavlova is most definitely cooked in-house, as everything we serve. (Except our ice-creams. They... This is the second time in a week I have been fortunate to dine here- once for lunch in a large party and once with a friend for a special dinner.. On both occasions the food was outstanding. The staff are terrific and very attentive. A carafe of water comes to your table without having to ask which happens rarely... More
