A venue where left and right handers can exist in harmony without fear of persecution. A licensed land of milk & honey where the ping-pong is plentiful the computer games are retro, the cocktails arrive in gramophones and the strawberry mojitos cost nought but 3 pounds. Vintage fairs on Sundays, sewing clubs on Tuesdays, bingo on Wednesdays plus a host of other relatively interesting tit-bits. Happy days. If you're into this kind of thing..

Avoid like the plague

Worst restaurant Ive ever experienced. Shouted and scowled at by staff. Meals were awful. Bland, cold, missing - when we eventually got cutlery it was from a bucket. We waited AGES to be served. This place cannot even get the basics right. I've written two letters of complaint - to see if they... read more

Having been a visitor to the bookclub over the years when in glasgow, it is always a great place to visit for a drink, decent menu, good prices and cant get enough of the surroundings! Only letdown on my last visit was the service, staff member too busy sitting at a table on tablet to notice guests and food order... More

I ate here for dinner with a friend around this time last year, The place is so quirky and has a great atmosphere, the food was so tasty and very filling and at a great price (and being vegetarian there was a lot of selection!) The staff were friendly and accommodating! The next time I am in Glasgow I will... More

Absolutely brilliant fun: food, service, place, decor, everything is really nice , friendly and fun. They hold regular vintage events. DJ was playing on the Sunday when we went for brunch. really good coffee. I went back the following Thursday! a definite must go.

I have enjoyed drinking at the bookclub over the the last couple of years. As it is only a short subway ride from the city centre it is very accessible. The atmosphere and the decor are excellent. The seating is very comforatable and aesthetically pleasing. However, some areas are very dark. The drinks are decent value for money and service... More

Hi Connor, thanks for the review. Always nice to hear from a regular customer, and it's great that you enjoy the place. We've made a few changes in our kitchen recently so it's definitely worth giving the grub another go - I'll personally recommend the maple glazed gammon with poached duck egg, it's a carnivorous paradise... Have eaten brunch here several times over the past couples of years and always had a good experience, however our visit a couple of weeks ago was not so good. I know it's a big old building and it was a cold weekend but the temperature inside on a late Sunday morning was not very inviting. Our food came quickly... More

Oh, I'm really sorry to hear this. Especially as you've always had such good experiences with us in the past. I'm looking into hiring some space heaters for the winter - it's a reflection of hold cold the weather has been, usually we never need to heat this place -and I'll be conducting some staff training soon which should hopefully... A great bar tucked away in the vibrant west end of Glasgow!! Cocktail lovers should totally give it a try, good prices and quirky cocktail menus certainly made me a happy customer. Food was also delicious and again amazing value for money, Only complaint being the service - staff didn't know much about the menu and were slow at the... More

came here with a friend the other night for a meal and a few drinks. on arrival it was unclear if we should wait to be seated or if we should take a seat ourselves, after the waitress walked past us quite a few times standing without acknowledging us we decided to take a seat. This was perhaps the wrong... More

Popped here for lunch yesterday. We shared a selection of starters - chilli chickpea fritters, deep fried whitetail and mussels - plus chips. These were delicious, but the chickpea fritters weren't as spicy as expected. Other than that, service was friendly and music was good.

We have visited the book club three times in the last two months and generally enjoyed the experience, food is very tasty and the bar quirky and serve great cocktails.
