A venue where left and right handers can exist in harmony without fear of persecution. A licensed land of milk & honey where the ping-pong is plentiful the computer games are retro, the cocktails arrive in gramophones and the strawberry mojitos cost nought but 3 pounds. Vintage fairs on Sundays, sewing clubs on Tuesdays, bingo on Wednesdays plus a host of other relatively interesting tit-bits. Happy days. If you're into this kind of thing..

Very Good

We went to the Hillhead Bookclub for a late lunch and were very surprised. Great atmosphere, great food, and all very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend a visit There was a craft display / show going on when we went, so it limited the seating options, and the service was quite slow... read more

Have been in a couple of times now, visited for a meal with friends. Service was ok, food was adequate but pricey. Good selection of drinks though. It could do with better attention paid to the meals.

Hi Thomas P, Thanks for your feedback it's important to hear what our customers think. I was disappointed to hear your visit to Bookclub wasn't quite up to standard, we take pride in serving high quality value for money food prepared fresh in our kitchen. Our menu ethos is lunch mains for around a fiver and dinner mains never more... More

Hey Gary, Glad we made a good impression! The Granny Would be Proud vintage fairs happen on Sunday afternoon a couple of times a month so they take over our whole upstairs area meaning downstairs is a wee bit busier when they're on- I'd advise checking dates and booking a table to avoid disappointment on those days. Do come along... More

Love the Hillhead Bookclub - it's quirky mix of crockery/chairs/etc along with the building itself give so much character! Recently visisted with a family group for a change - staff were very patient with the young kids & they loved the table tennis upstairs too. Food was lovely, very good choice for veggie dishes too!

Advertising ping pong outside ,this place undersells what's inside. Great building with real atmosphere that has been tastefully converted and with comfy and lots of place to sit drink and listen to some great music it is areal treat. Don't let the outside put you off as you will love the place inside.

Had an amazing pub lunch here. Whitebait for starter followed by gammon, eggs and chips. Was great value for money and in my opinion the best pub grub in west end - the chips are amazing.

Met up with some friends for lunch. Food was lovely, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Loved the Strawberry Vodka Mojito's that were a bargain at only £3.

Liked the quirkiness of decor and our cocktails arrived in China teacups which was fun. Portions Massive so don't eat much before you come!

Had food with a large table booking. Food was nice, I had the veggie tart which was tasty! Only complaint food wise was that you couldn't order veg to go with the steak pie, it only came with mash. But the waiting staff were just awful, after we received our food we were forgotten about. No check back, no offer... More

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to write a review. I'm very sorry to hear that your experience with us wasn't up to scratch on this occasion - I've spoke to the staff on duty to let them know that this is not an acceptable level of service and I'll be conducting some refresher training. Hopefully we'll see you... More
