Description: A venue where left and right handers can exist in harmony without fear of persecution. A licensed land of milk & honey where the ping-pong is plentiful the computer games are retro, the cocktails arrive in gramophones and the strawberry mojitos cost nought but 3 pounds. Vintage fairs on Sundays, sewing clubs on Tuesdays, bingo on Wednesdays plus a host of other relatively interesting tit-bits. Happy days. If you're into this kind of thing..

Why was there a man cutting someones hair in a bar??? Service was great, an abundant selection of drinks, the ladies toilets were disgusting, management really need to address this, also only one hand drier

Had a great evening. Hillhead Bookclub has a really good selection of drinks all of which are well-priced, (try the punch!) and a good menu with interesting food. Will definitely good again and would highly recommend.

I love this bar on byres road. Its 2 levels and wooden decor makes for a great setting. We last came here on a sunday during the day and it was quite busy and people were making use of the table tennis upstairs. Enjoyed the rare luxury of enjoying cocktails during the day and they were delicious. You should definitely... More

We were in Glasgow for another event and decided before travelling to book ourselves a table. What a relief to do this as when we arrived it was packed. The interior is a quirky space with plenty of seating for all party sizes. We were immediatly seated with menus already on the table, but our server didn't make an appearance.... More

Being a postgrad student at Glasgow Uni, I've been in here a few times for drinks with friends, and really liked the place: good music, very reasonable drinks and a great building and atmosphere. With my parents visiting for the weekend thought I would take them to try the breakfast on a Sunday morning on our way to the nearby... More

Don't bother going here. We had to ask three times before anyone wanted to take our order. We then waited a further 40 minutes for drinks to arrive after hurrying these up twice; 50 minutes for our food which ended up being the wrong order. Thus three of us got our main courses together while another member of our group... More

Visited Hillhead Book Club yesterday (15/11/14) for first time. It was crazily loud -club level loud - unacceptably so for a food venue. There was no one obviously managing the place, service was erratic at best at the bar, although some floor staff were trying to provide a decent service. We enjoyed our meals - though shortchanged on the mashed... More

Stygian? I suppose Virgil's description of bearded Charon could apply to a few of the staff... Thanks for taking the time to write a review, and I'm very sorry to hear that you weren't impressed.
