The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. Wow

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel almost like family and all staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgable. Though I've lived not far from Peat Inn for over 30 years, this was the first time I'd been, but I'd certainly hope to be back again. We had the tasting menu with wine and it was all excellent from start to finish. Cooking was of a really high standard throughout and the accompanying wines were carefully chosen and explained... Ate here for lunch and was blown away by the price for the lunch menus, so good for the quality of food. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again.

I dined on the special lunch menu which was £20 and included lamb as a main course as well as a starter and main. Had my baby son who was well looked after by staff. Husband and in laws all enjoyed their food and wine. Service very good. Prompt but not intrusive.

We stayed for one night on a touring holiday of Scotland, choosing to visit St Andrews on one day. The Peat Inn is a short drive outside of St Andrews. The rooms are very tastefully furnished. They have a downstairs with bed and bathroom and upstairs lounge area. There is a television and CD player in the lounge and a... More

We were taken as a celebration for a special birthday. The service was very attentive and the food was delicious. Great wine and nice amuse bouche between courses. Definitely need to book as all tables appeared occupied.

This was trip number 5 for me to this gem. I know what to expect and they exceed my expectations. This charming place is at a nondescript crossroads outside St. Andrews. It may not look special from the outside, but don't let its cover fool you. Inside you are greeted by warm and stylish decor and proper but friendly country... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights last weekend. Although I was expecting the food to be nice, the accommodation turned out to be better than I was expecting. We stayed in a room (it was a suite but not sure if this is Standard), that was upstairs / downstairs. Downstairs had the bed and bathroom whilst upstairs... More

The Open Golf was on, so the restaurant was extremely busy. We had drinks in the reception, with very attentive service and a warm welcome. The restaurant was a series of small rooms with definite Scottish country decor. The meal was a series of tiny tiny portions with each course ( as in fine dining). I felt the focus was more... More
