Description: The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.

Drove up from Edinburgh as a last wee treat before we go back to Hong Kong. Many years since we were here but truly worth the journey from Town. We chose the Chefs Menu for two and were treated to a truly excellent lunch in quaint surroundings. All the dishes were terrific but we especially liked the stuffed calamari. Service... More

Enjoyed lunch at The Peat Inn recently. This restaurant is 5 miles or so outside Cupar and is a true gem of a place. We had travelled quite a distance and were a wee bit early for our reservation, none the less we received a very warm welcome and had time to sit in a very comfortable lounge area with... More

We were treated to a stay in the hotel and dinner - what a fantastic experience. Chose the taster menu and asked for the suggested wine with each course. The food was truly incredible - beautifully presented and layer upon layer of flavours. The wines chosen for us were, without fail, excellent and the sommelier was knowledgeable and very good... We stayed for two nights, and at the warm welcome we relaxed and had a great experience. The rooms have had the bathrooms upgraded, and are calm and comfortable. Dinner both nights was a treat, and the service friendly, knowledgeable and unstuffy. The cooking was outstanding, using local produce, with a wonderful Scottish cheeseboard, and a great wine list. Requesting a change... More

My hubby & I decided to treat ourselves to an Epicurean Indulgence night at the Peat Inn last week - fantastic decision! From our arrival & check-in to leaving the service was exemplary - if this is how the other half lives, count me in. The meal itself was amazing - 6 course tasting menu with matching wine for my... Visited The Peat Inn for lunch today. Lovely welcoming room to look over the menu and well versed staff on hand to advise. Set menu available but we chose a la carte. Every course was fantastic. Well presented and so tasty. Great staff, food served with a smile. Hope we can return soon.

This visit was made together with my wife's sister from Adelaide, Australia. As she is involved in the catering business there, we wanted to experience her reaction to one of our better establishments. The service was impeccable from the moment we entered until we left. The straight lunch menu of the day was truly good and the price was lower... More

I have been to the Peat Inn four times now. It is easily the best restaurant I have ever experienced. Set in the heart of rural Fife it is cosy and intimate. From the moment you step in you are welcomed and treated to an unhurried and exquisite meal. It is (for me) expensive but in this case you get... More
