Description: The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.

A classy but friendly restaurant and a wonderful place for a special occasion. 5 star staff who get the blend of efficiency and friendliness just right. A good drinks menu for aperitifs etc gets the meal off to a good start. Some good whiskys for afterwards as well. The reason it doesn’t get 5 stars (TA really must start allowing... More

We loved our visit to the Peat Inn. From start to finish we were so well looked after and our meal at night was fantastic. We had the tasting menu with matching wines and every course was delicious. It really was one of the best meals we have ever eaten. The staff were very professional but friendly with it and... More

Another great fine dining experience in the St Andrews area. A little more formal and designed to attract more of an international crowd. Food and wine list is great...staff very attentive...don't miss it

My wife and I have been at the Peat Inn for Lunch. Superior welcome in a warm atmosphere. I like very much the habitude of certain UK restaurants to present their menu while you are seated in the nice waiting lounge. We had a good Kir Royale. The menu is far superior the restaurant average, presentation of the food superb,... More

If you are going to visit St. Andrews, take some time to visit the nearby Peat Inn for a dining experience you won't forget. Starting with the pre-meal comfort in the lounge, then moving into the elegant dining rooms, being served a gourmet multi-course meal, savouring wine from a very extensive listing, then moving back to the lounge for coffee... Pros: Excellent food and service; much less stuffy than feared; elegant setting Cons: Dinner is expensive if ordered a la carte; a decent drive from town; parking can be a challenge. Apparently lunch is where the real value is.

It is always tricky to come to highly places as expectations are high. And my experience is that mostly we are let down. However, it wasnt the case this time. The dinner we had was fantastic. Small country restaurant with three separate dining rooms each for about 15-20 people. The atmosfere is very relaxed with very young but professional staff.... More

We had high expectations, having read the reviews and in view of the 1 star Michelin. In that respect, it was a bit disappointing. The food was generally good, but really missed that extra difference that would deserve the star. Perhaps the chef was absent, or was having an off day. Other than that, nice cozy place, excellent service, good... More

It has been a while since I have written a review on Tripadvisor but after visiting The Peat Inn I thought that others should hear about this gem on the south western edge of St Andrews. It can be described as an oasis in the middle of nowhere but this Michelin starred restaurant is well worth a visit to those... More

Happened on the Peat Inn by chance when in Fife with a friend. Stopped to peruse the menu and felt obliged to try it out. (Well it would have been rude not to!) Although we were not dressed for fine dining the welcome we received was warm and friendly. The food was very tasty, everything from the amuse bouche onwards... More
