Description: The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle...
The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.

I booked the Luxury Break for my boyfriend's birthday. We are a young couple (both 25) who live in the local area. It was a lot of money to spend on one night, but was worth it for a one-off special treat. We loved the food, and our room - Floribunda. The restaurant staff were great, although we did have... We agree with all the superlatives expressed by other reviewers: the total experience of dining at the Peat Inn was first class. Thank you all for making our quiet celebratory lunch so special today. A note for disabled patrons : It is usually possible to park right at the door, it is on the level, and there is a well... More

Perfect lunch today, chose the Chef's menu, a set four course which can include wines if you wish. Every course was stunning and delicious. We have been dining here for a number of years but it just gets better and better. Thanks to everyone at Peat Inn for a warm welcome, excellent service and delicious food and wine. See you... More

This is well known fine dining restaurant in the country about 7 miles and a GBP 20 taxi ride from St. Andrews. It is worth the journey - ambience, service, food and wine are really good. We finished with a plate of Scottish cheeses from the trolley and they were excellent!

We visited for lunch on a Saturday and went for the a la carte (although the set menu look brilliant) all courses were first class, service excellent and wines good and for a restaurant of this standing reasonable. Well worth a visit but you should book as it's very popular.

Another fabulous meal at The Peat Inn. This is our favourite restaurant in Scotland. The food never disappoints. The combination of different local ingredients is stunning and very different. Good sized portions, beautifully presented. Service is always outstanding and staff pleasant and unobtrusive. Lovely decor and artwork in a traditional Fife cottage. Enjoy an aperitif beside a cozy log fire... More

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel both welcome and as if we were a guest in someone's home! Situated in a quiet "hamlet", we were first shown to our room which was a beautiful split-level suite overlooking the gardens. We took tea (and a Bloody Mary!) in the grounds before going into the main building for... More

Superb from the start! The chef and owner Geoffrey Smeddle has a winning formula here. We had booked, which I would think is a must for here, although saying that, a couple turned up on the off chance with no booking and they managed to be accommodated. Extensive menus with the Al carte or the taster menu being offered in... More
