Description: The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.

Stayed here for two nights dinner, bed and breakfast for a birthday treat and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The suite was lovely with modern furnishings and a large ensuite shower room and the bonus of complimentary sherry and homemade brownies! We had an a la carte dinner on the first evening with both red and white wines from an... More

We like to give ourselves a pre Christmas treat, and this certainly was a real treat. From the warm, friendly welcome to the quality of the accommodation and food, Peat Inn really delivered. All the staff were lovely, very attentive but not formal in any way. The suite was just gorgeous, and made us feel very special. What to say... More

The food, the accommodation, the service....did I mention the food?, and the food......all absolutely faultless. For a way to welcome in the New Year this had the intimacy of a home coupled with the refinement of a great establishment at the top of its game. The only downside......it is 500 miles from where we live!

I have visited this restaurant several times over the last couple of years and each time has been a pleasure. The food is second to none and the service is always without fault - attentive but not over-bearing. The 'extras' - the amuse-bouche, the excellent bread, the inter-course treats - are fabulous. I would highly recommend this place as a... More

We stayed and dined here at the end of October. The split level rooms are thoughtfully set out - sleeping and shower room / en suite on the lower level, with sitting and breakfast area on the upper level. The only thing missing with the room was a bath - so no relaxing long soaks before dinner. We were however staying... More

A dining experience not to be missed. Exceptional service, excellent food, terrific atmosphere. This is my restaurant to go to if I want to feel pampered and special and feel I have had superb value for my money.

At a quick glance, you know these brave, technically challenging classic dishes will impress. Our party was 4 people and we did the tasting menu. Every course began with a quick taste off our forks and huge smiles, followed by almost audible Yums and Mmmms. Partridge was on the menu, cooked to perfection. They made little haggis balls too using... More

From the outside the Peat Inn looks like a small country cottage but is a 'Tardis' on the inside! The lounge with the real open log fire was busy yet subdued on a Saturday and a very comfortable room in which to enjoy the aperos and peruse the menu. The main restaurant is divided up into spacious rooms each of... More

My partner and I visited the Peat Inn for lunch and took advantage of the set menu. The food was absolutely fantastic and great value for money, to get canapes, an amuse bouche and three courses all for £19 is brilliant. The food was delicious and the service first class. Very attentive and polite waiting staff. Would definitely recommend and... More

Great attention to detail at this country inn with rooms. Local produce, superbly cooked, presented and served using local produce. Good selection of wines to accompany your meal and whiskies to finish off with. A dining experience to remember; our best meal in Scotland for a long while. go try it.
