Description: The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.

We booked the Peat Inn as a special treat for our silver wedding anniversary and were suitably delighted by every aspect of the dining and guest experience. We had talked about going there for years but just never got around to it. We now know what we have missed out on over the years. From arrival for dinner to departure... More

We stayed at the Peat Inn on a Friday night and had the "taster" menu with the listed wines. From the very first greeting, to our departure on the Saturday, we were treated to excellent hospitality, great food and outstanding levels of service. I particularly enjoyed the unusual wines that accompanied the food, and the degree of knowledge displayed by... More

Third time in ten years and don't know why I do not go more often! Wonderfully picturesque hidden spot in Fife, but a short drive from St Andrews. We enjoyed the luxury dinner bed and breakfast and could not fault the staff, accommodation or food. A tremendous experience. We had a warm welcome and were offered tea on arrival on... More

We visited The Peat Inn for my 60th birthday lunch in early October. We waited for 35 minutes before being seated. My starter (lemon sole with pickled scallop) contained 18 large bones and bone fragments. No comment from the waitress when I drew this unpleasant surprise to her attention. Our mains (venison osso buco) were dry and completely without flavour.... More

Had a lovely meal here as a birthday celebration with family of all ages from 9 to 92. Attention to detail from the moment you arrive is what makes us choose this place. The food is exquisite and the pre meal "tasters" just add to the enjoyment. When I booked, I was also able to forward plan for my 9yr... More

We had been to The Peat Inn before and had greatly enjoyed the entire experience and were keen to return. This we did just a few days ago and it did not disappoint. A lovely spot in the Fife countryside the facilities are calm and welcoming - there is something different about eating in the country away from the noise... More

Anniversary meal in the acclaimed Peat Inn did not disappoint. Aperitif in the lobby while browsing three separate menus, the tasting menu, menu of the day and the a la carte. We opted for a la carte because every dish appealed to our taste buds! All the dishes were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Highlights for us were the chocolate... More

Thankfully my father insisted on paying because this is a pricy place but man is the food totally worth it (especially if someone else is paying). The thing I recommend most of all is the cheese board. The roll out a cart full of at least 50 varieties of cheese and then you get to pick a bunch which they... More

Lovely restaurant, fabulous food, excellent service. Had a wonderful lunch today. Starters mackerel fillet with some tartare, yum. Mains were Sea Bream with onion purée & Jerusalem artichoke. Wood pigeon with black pudding, giroles and Marsala sauce. Iced honey parfait with toasted oats and sorbet. I had cheese plate which was gorgeous. Coffees and mini chocolate choux buns to finish....
