The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. Always a great treat

top class tasting menu at dinner. I enjoyed the tasting wines with the different course, my wife had a couple of glasses of wine and my sister had water as she doesn't drink but drove - excellent! Really relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff.

We re-visited the Peat Inn after change of ownership and refurbishment. The Service was good, but the Food was boring and bland. Totally over-priced and disappointing. Can no longer recommend the Peat Inn.

Stayed here for 1 night in the Camelia Suite overlooking the pristine gardens which backed onto a field with sheep and young lambs. Room was great and had all the amenities you could possibly want with a turn down service and fresh towels. The food was amazing and very well presented- flavours just fab. I found the staff to be... Everything from the welcome to paying the bill was classy. The decor, service were very excellent. The food was a joy to eat. We had the" menu of the day" terrific value but quality quality the whole way. We are going back when next in the area

We ate at the Peat Inn while staying in one of the rooms there. We booked a table for 7.30pm, sat and had a drink while we waited…but we didn’t get seated until 8.30pm which I thought was a bit excessive, so something to bear in mind if you prefer eating earlier in the evening. We decided that we would... More

Have been a regular at the peat for around a year, Got the shock of my life when we turned up last week, What have they done to it, the charm, character and homeliness has gone. Now its contemporary and modern with the most uncomfortable bright orange benches as seating. And to go with it the food has slipped to... More

The very positive comments on the Peat Inn, as well as its awards, made us book a table and look forward to a lovely dinner. The Peat Inn is presented as one of the best restaurants and acts indeed like it in its price, decoration and number of staff. But very quickly we were disappointed and felt there must be... More

A visit to The Peat Inn had long been on the 'to do' list, so while staying in the area we decided to have dinner. The food was excellent. We opted for the tasting menu and enjoyed every course. The food was well presented and served by pleasant knowledgeable staff. We will return.

We like to make the Peat Inn an annual treat when visiting a friend in the village. Geoffrey Smeddle's winter close-down was spent in a thorough make-over of the premises, and his identity and style is now well imprinted. While apparently there were still a few little jobs to do, we felt immediately at ease; gentle positive colours that are not...
