Description: The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.

From the outside the Peat Inn looks like a small country cottage but is a 'Tardis' on the inside! The lounge with the real open log fire was busy yet subdued on a Saturday and a very comfortable room in which to enjoy the aperos and peruse the menu. The main restaurant is divided up into spacious rooms each of... More

My partner and I visited the Peat Inn for lunch and took advantage of the set menu. The food was absolutely fantastic and great value for money, to get canapes, an amuse bouche and three courses all for £19 is brilliant. The food was delicious and the service first class. Very attentive and polite waiting staff. Would definitely recommend and... More

Great attention to detail at this country inn with rooms. Local produce, superbly cooked, presented and served using local produce. Good selection of wines to accompany your meal and whiskies to finish off with. A dining experience to remember; our best meal in Scotland for a long while. go try it.

We opted for the tasting menu which gave a good balance of dishes. All the courses offered a nice balance of flavours. The only let down was the wild boar in the main dish was a bit too tough, all the other courses were very good. We took the wine option which was a good call the wines went well... More

My husband and I went here for dinner for his 40th birthday. We have a young child so a night out is a rare prize these days and we were not at all disappointed. We had a wonderful meal in a lovely setting and were looked after really well by all of the staff. It was an ideal way to... More

Simply wonderful. Tried the overnight option with family visiting from Australia. Even the dog was impressed. Taster menu can be adapted for poor veggies. Lassie looking after apartments was most helpful. WIIL BE BACK, when my boat comes in!

I was taken there for my birthday. I had the testing menu and associated wine flight and every element of it was superb. Several of the courses and wines were revelations. Not so good was support for my wife, who is pescetarian and allergic to prawns and vinegar. They had difficulty producing a menu for her and something must have... More
