Description: The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle...
The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.

We booked a night at the Peat Inn for my birthday months in advance as we'd heard great things and this place has a Michelin Star and at the best part of £400 DB&B it must be good, right? Had it been a two AA Rosette place and not so expensive I would be giving it 5 stars but we... More

Fabulous menu to choose from. Something to suit everyone. Some chose the Menu of the Day - Every element was beautifully presented and the flavours were out of this world. The highlight for me was the braised shin of pork which was so tender and extremely tasty. Others chose from the menu which included delicious seasonal Scottish ingredients.

Second visit and a wonderful weekend. The luxury break package was really first class - early entry to a lovely suite - champagne and the finest of chocolates awaiting along with many other lovely 5 star touches and treats. Breakfast in the suite next morning was excellent - not a cooked breakfast in sight! The Tasting Menu was terrific again... More

This is absolutely one of the best meals I've ever had. Every morsel was melt in the mouth. We were tempted by the tasting menu but even more tempted by some items on a the a la carte - so that's the route we took. Both the starters, scallops and langoustine, won us over. A main of lamb was similarly... More

VERY disappointed. Food average, presentation ok but I serve better food at home. Absolutely NO atmosphere to the place, very clinical décor, the waiting staff were intrusive, could not recommend it to anyone! I ate there a long time ago and it was excellent. As to why they have a Michelin star is anyone's guess?

The all-round excellence of this restaurant was such a delight in every respect. From outside you may be forgiven for thinking it was a village pub, regardless of the pleasant and well-maintained grounds, signage and exterior. As soon as you open the door into the bar you are transported to something wonderful. The decor and paintings offer aesthetic joy with... More

Visited last Saturday for lunch and very impressed with the refurbishment to the restaurant. I have been going to the Peat Inn for 12 years for special occasion meals and have always left totally satisfied with every aspect of the dining experience and it seems to just get better every time we go. The food is stunningly good and although... More

As long time patrons of The Peat inn,its our favourite restaurant. What a surprise when we visited for our wedding anniversary last week. Were we still in Scotland? This could be anywhere in the world. The new modern decor didn't say 5 star Scotland. I don't really want to sit on a banquette at this price point. The slightly old... More

A beautifully professional restaurant with the cooking at a peak. We felt really spoiled and had a lovely table overlooking the garden (trees in blossom). The service was exemplary, my martini prior to lunch was great, and our wine was well advised to go with our food.
