The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. For over 20 years now, we have enjoyed wonderful culinary experiences at the Peat Inn, and even although we now live abroad, we often return for very special celebrations. During that time, ownership has changed, and while that often sees standards drop, not so here. David and Patricia Wilson will be happy to know that their legacy lives on under... More

.... and it was a real birthday treat. This has been on my daughter's bucket list to visit before she leaves St Andrews University, and I'm very glad she chose it for my birthday lunch. The food, service and decor are all first class. The set menu at £19.50 is a bargain ( please don't put it up because I... More

This is a great place to celebrate in style. A party of 3 we had 2 set menus and an a la carte selection. Drinks were served in the lounge with a selection of canapes. Our table was beautifully laid and the staff could not have been more attentive. An amuse bouche of Pea and Lovage mousse was unexpected but... More

the food was really good and well presented and one of their staff is a self-described "whiskey geek" who was more than willing to assist both newcomers to Scotch whiskey and those who were more familiar to choose whiskeys from a large list.

Had an excellent lunch, a real treat. I had sea bream starter and hake which was delicious, others had chicken, wood pigeon, asparagus all of which was very very good. I am not a pudding person but was persuaded so the others could tuck in and I have to say I could not resist either! The souffle was very clever,... More

Out for a drive and stopped off after the reviews. Very pricey and not much on offer if you're not a seafood fan. Didn't feel relaxed, maybe it's just not for me as I like to relax, staff were too keen and were always at the table. Pricey even with their ratings.
